    “ catch, ” she launches a wrapped sandwich at him from across the room, but slowly. without intent to maim. she actually wants him to be able to eat his lunch. she drops into a chair at the table and sets a paper bag down, removing her own sandwich from within. “ what’d i miss? ” probably nothing, but it’s worth asking.

          “i’m  sorry,  did  i  wake  you?”  fingers  are  fiddling  with  the  spoon  in  his  hand;  he’d  gotten  hungry  (  unsurprisingly;  he’d  forgotten  to  eat  earlier  )  but  he  was  trying  to  keep  quiet.  he  knows  charlie  needs  his  sleep  for  work  in  the  morning.  well,  too  late  for  that...  //  @damagebuilt

     she enters the vet clinic easily, it’s the rather large malamute behind her that objects, holding fast and pulling back even as she drags him over the threshold. “ uh, hi, i’m pretty sure my dog ate something he shouldn’t have and i was hoping you might have a free appointment slot? ”

        she’s perched atop the giant tree stump, as if oblivious to what it is, or as if she knows exactly what it is and doesn’t care. one leg curled beneath her, one pulled up to her chest. she knows exactly how fast she can get from this position to standing- or something else. when someone else stumbles upon the clearing, she has no problem raising her chin to look at them. “ well met, traveller, ” she greets.

     as he unlocks his door his gaze is shifted to the guy two doors down doing the same thing, a shock of floppy blond hair and an instantly recognisable face, ashley can’t help but remember that he definitely has at least one class with this guy (and he was doing pretty well at being invisible in school). he catches his eyes and turns his head away slightly, hoping to go unrecognised. neither of them want to talk about why they’re sliding into shady motel rooms late at night. or so he assumes.

     he’s very aware that he is preemptive with the crash cart, but he can see the darkness gathering around the patient probably thirty seconds before they actually crash and when someone does eventually shout for the cart, he’s right there, sliding it into place without hesitation. his powers might not be any good for stopping this from happening, but at least they can give him a warning.
