Woman killed as Storm Doris brings 80mph winds and blizzards to UK
A woman has died as Storm Doris brought gale-force winds and heavy snow to parts of Britain. The woman was hit by a piece of debris in Dudley Street, Wolverhampton city centre, just before midday. She suffered serious head injuries. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: "Sadly, it quickly became apparent that there was nothing that could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene."
#StormDoris has rapidly deepened over the last 24 hours as it has under gone what we call Explosive Cyclogenisis making it a #WeatherBomb
Met Office
The Met Office has warned that the storm has undergone "Explosive Cyclogenisis" as it deepens, transforming it into a "weather bomb". Winds of up to 75mph have been reported in Ireland where some 37,000 households are without power due to more than 900 faults, said ESB Networks. London Euston was among the railway stations dealing with delays and cancellations, with Virgin Trains advising passengers to postpone their travel until Friday due to the storm.
Okay so storm DORIS hit today (The most vicious sounding storm I’ve ever heard, we tremble in fear of Doris) and knocked over some kinda big trees (not just wheelie bins what’s going on) and outside my bedroom window there’s a tree that’s swaying too much for my liking and it’s kinda scary so if I’m not active tomorrow a storm who I imagine to be a granny has taken me.
