We've heard of characters being scared of thunderstorms, but what about specifically being scared of tornadoes? Be it past trauma or just a general phobia of twisters, Character A freaks out when a tornado warning goes out, and the resulting storm sirens/weather alerts only make them panic more. Cue Character B doing their best to comfort A as both of them take cover in the basement/cellar/nearest tornado shelter.
since I can't get my brain into the headspace for actual writing I offer this instead: random ridiculous tidbits from Storm Sirens
Pelorum Prep is named after Cape Pelorum, now Punta del Faro, which is part of Sicily and was historically thought to possibly be the historical setting for siren legends
There's a joke at the school that finding Dalinar (head of History dept) and Navani (Engineering teacher) making out in a broom closet or empty classroom is a graduation requirement. Dalinar finds this very embarrassing and yet, not embarrassing enough to stop making out with his hot wife at almost every opportunity.
Kaladin's powers are basically Power of Heart; despite this he keeps trying to get himself into combat situations.
The accident that put Tien in his coma? Kaladin was driving.
Wistiow is head of the hospital where Lirin works, and he's essentially sponsored Kaladin to go to Pelorum.
Laral (who plays a very Jessica-ish role in providing Kaladin with info about the school), Kaladin, and the Kholins are pretty much the only non-white students at the school.
Renarin is not trying to be aloof. Renarin is just uncomfortable in social situations as a general rule and his coping mechanisms come off like a classic YAPNR love interest.
The Nightwatcher lives in a small town called Natanatan (yes, not accurate to her canon location but a) I like the name and b) it's still a mountain valley town so good enough)
Syl has been in the same kind of magically caused coma as Tien, but for longer, which is why she's familiar with the mental prison/dreamworld they're trapped in. (sort of... a cognitive realm? eh? eh?) She also knows other comatose people, and their meatspace locations. That's Bridge 4.
Everyone in the dreamworld comes out of it at the same time when the spell is broken in Stormkissed. When Syl shows up in Stormblessed, she's already arranged for all of Bridge 4 to get to Kharbranth ASAP. They're not magically powerful, but they are all pissed at Sadeas and badass normals.
Nobody dies.
Danlan is a Siren associated with Sadeas at first who was sent to spy in Kharbranth, took the opportunity to present male, and got interested in Adolin. Zir heel/face turn is a relatively small moment in the final battle and takes place away from the main confrontation, but is significant in that ze knows the secret to summoning a Shardblade. (don't ask me what it is I haven't figured it out)
Shallan is the first one to summon a Blade.
The epilogue is Kaladin's 18th birthday, which includes a big combined family brunch and then a quiet walk on the headland to a bench overlooking the sea with his boyfriend.
To Mr. Sanderson, if you ever find this: I'm sorry for attaching your name directly. I'm not actually sorry for the rest because it's hilarious and I'm proud of the result. But for verisimilitude's sake I had to use your name and for that I apologize. A little. (it's still funny I'm so sorry please don't think poorly of me)
To everyone else: you don't get an apology; this is a gift. though in case someone stumbles across this on Google or something: THIS IS NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT REAL. TH IS IS A JOKE.

From Brandon Sanderson, New York Times bestselling author of Steelheart, comes a brand new series: Storm Sirens, a heart-pounding tale of the deep magic of the ocean, and of the heart.
STORMTOUCHED
Don't try to stop yourself from feeling. You'll hate who you become.
Pelorum Prep should be the opportunity of a lifetime for Kaladin Sousa: it's the best school in the coastal city of Kharbranth and exactly the background he needs to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. But after a tragic car accident leaves his younger brother in a coma, Kaladin doesn't want to do anything - least of all attend school day-in and day-out surrounded by wealthy teenagers who have never suffered.
When he cuts class on his first day, he follows mysterious voices to find Adolin and Renarin Kholin, the Headmaster's younger cousins who have recently returned from living abroad. Kaladin is intrigued by the aloof, mysterious Renarin and his handsome, athletic brother, and they quickly become the only highlight of his time at Pelorum - though neither of them will speak to him.
Then ships from Kharbranth begin to mysteriously disappear, and suddenly Kaladin finds himself in the middle of something much bigger than he had bargained for. The Kholins are more than they seem... but it's Kaladin himself who may be the key to stopping the evil approaching the city.
STORMKISSED
Sometimes the prize is not worth the costs...
Things should be looking up for Kaladin Sousa - his father just got promoted, his boyfriend Renarin is a Siren in addition to being a great kisser, and Kaladin himself has strange healing powers which helped to defeat the evil Amaram. Best of all, he's got new information about his brother Tien's illness, and might be able to end his coma at last.
But his powers and Renarin's don't mix well, and now every touch they share is painful. Renarin and his cousin Jasnah leave Kharbranth to seek out the Nightwatcher, a mysterious figure who might know what Kaladin is and how to control his abilities. On the way they meet Shallan, a girl with more than her fair share of secrets who might be vital to their quest - or might destroy them.
Meanwhile Kaladin struggles to free Tien, with the help of Renarin's brother Adolin. Try as he might, Kaladin can't deny that there are still sparks between them, especially when they argue, and working together isn't easy. When they're sucked into a strange and dangerous dreamworld, however, they need each other more than ever, to save themselves as well as Tien.
STORMBLESSED
The Everstorm comes...
Tien is awake at last, Kaladin is getting better by the day at controlling his Santhid powers, and he and Renarin finally have time for a real first date. But the peace is broken all too soon when Syl, the mysterious girl who helped Kaladin and Adolin navigate a cursed dreamscape, turns up in Kharbranth. She brings news: Sadeas, the vicious Siren responsible for Tien's coma and Amaram's attack on the city, is coming for them. And he has only one goal: total destruction.
Jasnah and her assistant Shallan race to untangle the legend of the Shardblade, a mythical Siren weapon which might be their salvation. Meanwhile Kaladin - under the eye of Renarin's father Dalinar - accelerates his training, pushing himself and his abilities almost to the breaking point. In an effort to keep Kaladin's family safe, Navani and Adolin take them to the Nightwatcher's shielded home in the mountains. Getting back, however, is much less straightforward...
As torrential rains and massive waves batter Kharbranth, Kaladin, Renarin, and their allies must stand against Sadeas once and for all, or lose everything they love to the sea.
