I’m caring for a litter of kittens, 5 of them have not found homes yet. We’re struggling to home them despite them being very friendly. I’ve posted on here, but I don’t have many cat people following me afaik. I’ve started trying to harness train 4 of them (thank you for the links to resources, I have found them helpful!) in hopes that people will want them more if they’re sort of trained. Do you know of anything else I can do to make people want them more? Or to get a wider amount of people? 1/

That’s very good of you to care for them and help them find homes! It can be tough to rehome kittens, especially if you live somewhere with a lot of cats.

I took a peek at your post and it looks like you’re doing everything right: listing out health info, identifying the location and how far you’re willing to travel, and providing some info about the kittens. I find that sometimes giving them funny names can help. On tumblr, keep posting photos and videos of them to really show off their personalities. Maybe some videos of their harness training progress? People are more likely to fall in love with a kitten they know more about!

While I had some success giving away kittens on tumblr, admittedly most of the litters I raised found homes on other platforms. I had pretty good success on kijiji (like Canadian Craigslist). You do have to vet potential adopters there more thoroughly to ensure they’ll keep them as indoor cats, but since you have access to a wider local group it’s a bit easier than on an international platform like tumblr where your followers might be a bit more spread out. I don’t think Facebook allows pet rehoming, but maybe try searching for other locally-based online groups to advertise them there.

It’s tough, especially this time of year and with a lot of people struggling in our economy. I’m rooting for you, hopefully you’ll be able to find a home for your little guys soon!

she's called Polaris, we do canicross and bikejoring, and sometimes she comes into group classes as a distraction.

Do you have an ideal size of cat? Is that even a thing people have? I know people have ideal dog sizes—maybe because there is way more variation in dogs? I’d ask favorite cat color (more normal question), but I’m pretty sure you’ve said it’s black.

You're correct about colour lmao

As far as size goes, I'm not really sure. I think too big is certainly a thing. My sister had a cat that was absolutely enormous. Didn't help that he was also fat, but aside from being fat he really was just huge. I find that cats are more squirmy and can get out of a hold easier than a dog can, and if you REALLY need to keep the animal still for something it's a lot harder to do when the cat is just right massive.

That being said Puter is pretty large and Hardy is very small. I think they're both fine. Hardy has a very easy time hiding and not being found, tho, which can get a little scary sometimes if I haven't seen her for a while and think perhaps she slipped outside somehow. But Puter has also done that to me. Usually this is remedied by shaking a bag of Temptations and they come running.

There is a certain appeal to a truly enormous cat, tho, I won't lie. Big cuddly sack of potatoes. But then Sprocket is definitely a big cuddly sack of potatoes and she's much larger lmao

realistically i feel like uhhhh... acd i guess. sibes are usually really Loud and can be escape artists and are kinda crazy sometimes. i mean they're not all like that but that's a lot of things i don't really love about a dog. so i guess i'd go with acd just because i'm more used to herder personalities and i think i would get along better despite not loving them aesthetically

50. oh god. everything he does is silly. he bonks his head a lot. he also fell in a pool trying to drink water out of it. he likes to sit in containers. he bleps all the time. hes fascinated by the tv...less so now but he was as a baby.
