Local grocery store that is the only place within an hour and a half to get the only food in town Boomer can eat RESTOCK challenge!!!!!!!!!
So far, this job has been so good for me. No more thinking about software and the books and what needs to be paid when and what we can afford to pay and what we will have to deal with later. No stressing about anything and no having to THINK all day long.
I get here, rake circles, do some grooming, make sure everyone has not yucky water, tidy things that need to be tidied, wash a few freeze dryer trays here and there, water and feed the chickens, water the garden, and just hang out with the dogs. And today is such a beautiful day. I am SO deeply grateful to be here and be doing this. It's been so great to be able to do something worthwhile and not have to bust my ass and stress over other people's messes. And I don't have to deal with anyone ever!!!! It's just me all day! No other humans unless Leon has the day off.
A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders by quitting my office job and coming here. I needed this so bad. And the dogs love it and Leon is happy that he has less to worry about and more time for other things. It's just perfect.
I've just discovered clumber spaniels. What an absolutely incredible head. Distinguished, relaxed squishable, I love everything about it. But then I scan down to the body and the spell breaks. These animals look like they can cover ground with all the efficiency of a three-legged beaver
Now THATS what Im TALKING about
@muttsandmustelidae Yo, this guy is falling for the propaganda

WORKING CLUMBER NATION RISE
Anyone in Manitoba/Saskatchewan that would go to Dauphin pride with me? 🥺
Have a video Leon took of us yesterday!
At the time I felt sorta bad for making Raiden come on this run because he wanted to quit after 4kms, but looking back on it now that he's gone, it was a nice last go for him and it was a good memory for us to have of him. Leon even got to tell someone this story yesterday and we had a good chuckle about Raiden riding on his lap on the skidoo and Echo taking lead by herself. It's a bittersweet memory to hang onto. We miss him very much.
Whether you're going to a public space such as a store or restaurant, or a somewhat private place like a party in your neighbor's backyard barbecue or dinner party, don't assume that it's okay to bring your dog or other pet with you just because it doesn't explicitly say no dogs (or other pets), always ask first, even if there is already a store cat/dog or the person hosting at their home has a pet.
Although a lot of places are increasingly becoming pet friendly, especially dog friendly, it's worth considering that some people have allergies and/or phobias and deserve to have their boundaries respected. Or maybe they just don't want to deal with the risk of a mess occurring.
Even if there is already a dog or other pets present, that doesn't mean your dog or other pet is welcome. The dog or other pet could be afraid of other dogs or other pets, or have aggression issues, or maybe they just don't want to take the risk that your pet is aggressive and/or poorly trained and might harm their pet.
When in doubt, ask first before bringing your pooch in and/or along.
*obvious exceptions apply for service dogs, who are usually much, much, more well trained than you average pet and have an important job to do
So I am actually completely gutted about how bad yesterday went. I feel as though I wasted the entire day for nothing when I have so much shit to do at home. This was the biggest event in this area all year, aside from the rodeo. So for things to flop this hard I am really not feeling good about it at all anymore.
There is supposed to be a pet supply place opening next year, and the plan has been to talk to the owner about selling my stuff out of there, but thats so far out still and I have to hold on until then. Someone suggested talking to the vet clinic about selling stuff there, so I might have to ask and see.
I was going to do the weekly farmers markets this summer, but now I'm not going to. I won't make back my money paying for my spot if I can't sell anything.
Leon felt bad, he tried very hard to fill the silence the whole drive home and made a few comments about how he hoped some people will call about collars and that he is thinking about buying some of my stock to sell himself so I can at least buy more supplies. I tried to remain cheerful because he had a good day and sold lots, but I was pretty discouraged.
But it is what it is. If they won't sell, they won't sell. I need to find other things to make along with the collars. I am going to try treat pouches and poop bag holders. Wondering if matching sets with leashes and harnesses would sell better. Other than that I am not sure what else might sell. I wanna make this work. I have to. I don't know what else to do.
On the bright side Echo had a great time and was the star of the show today
Sale went bad...
Did a quick inventory and on the off chance i sell out completely I will be making a very pretty chunk of change. I know i wont, but a gal can dream lmao
I don't normally stay up this late and I will regret it later, but made some extra collars and a sign for the table. My printer is down or I would have done something nicer on the computer. At least I had some stickers already with my logo.
Yay or nay to displaying them off this little cart? We do have a table, but I believe we are sharing a single table.
something I’ve noticed about Kep, which surprised me bc I always thought it was instinctual, is that he does not know how to dig. never has. he will paw at his bed or the floor when he’s getting ready to sleep, but only ever with one leg at a time. I have never seen him do the left-right-left-right alternating standard digging motion. it’s always left-left-left-left and sometimes he’ll switch to right-right-right-right but never does he alternate feet. it’s also only with bedding, never in the yard. Stellina has always liked to dig ever since she was a puppy (mostly in water but she also has a nice little scrape under my lilac bush she naps in) and Boone was a big digger who made several upsettingly large holes in my yard. I feel like Kep would love digging based on his general penchant for destruction, so maybe it’s a good thing he’s never figured it out.
i really really like this post
does your dog know how to dig?
ohhh yeah
yes but they are nonpracticing
no. my dog is innocent.
