What does it mean to be Storm Born
Daenerys, is that you?
No, I mean real Storm Born witches.
First and foremost, I'm not taking about being born during some rain and thunder. Storm Borns are born during major, significant storms. Storms that change fate and fortune. Hurricanes, blizzards, monsoons, ice storms, tornadoes, earthquakes. Storms where life and limb are on the line.
Why does it matter? They're born with the energy and power of the storm, but also the echoes of those who suffered and died. Those who can make peace with the echoes are able to harness the power they were born to, while those who can't will forever suffer a weakness in their magic.
Being Storm Born is something that people will brag on...if they weren't. People claiming incredible powers from being Storm Born were born during bother and bluster. As the song goes "Thunder's just a noise; lightning does the work." It is in the nature of people born during weather blips to exaggerate and carry on. Those born during true storms have a humility from nature.
Power is as power does.
Someone born during Hurricane Katrina knows it's nothing to brag about, despite the power given to her.
Storm Borns are typically very attune to the type of weather they were birthed in. A witch born during a blizzard won't stress unless it is really bad. Follow her lead. If a hurricane-born witch is leaving for higher ground, go with her.
They are recharged by the energy of the storm. They can make peace with the tormented spirits and guide them across.
Being Storm Born is a burden and a gift.
