Grumpy Vivenna x Sunshine Syl is a fun dynamic just on its own, but also consider that they are both princesses who defied their fathers and ran away to another world to seek their own fortune??? Syl would be obsessed with Vivenna's hair colour, and Vivenna would have a zillion cosmere magic mechanics questions for Syl. They could have so many conversations...

Raboniel sat beside her, but in her excitement, Navani hardly noticed. Her idea was working. It was working! She hunched forward, resting her elbows on the desk to keep her hands as steady as possible as she put the final touches on the painrial. She was practically vibrating with excitement. Raboniel leaned forward, humming curiously. Navani lifted her fabrial, still feeling the newness of its delicate form, and placed it on her own elbow. She turned the dial, and her usual pain dampened immediately. “Aha!” she exclaimed, grinning. Raboniel met her eyes. Her expression, normally coolly flat, was open, her face softened by curiosity. “Did it work?” she asked. “No pain! None at all!” Navani crowed, and kissed her.  Raboniel pulled back in shock, humming something quick and violent. “Oh, by the Heralds, I’m so sorry, I just–” Navani stammered. The music of Raboniel’s hum changed. She lifted her knee, pulling away the fabric of her dress to reveal a crack along the carapace of her thigh. She turned and faced Navani, hooking her leg over Navani’s knee, their thighs making a diamond shape. “It never healed properly,” she said, and her breath came more quickly. “Try it on me.” Navani held her own breath as she reset the device, then placed it just above Raboniel’s knee. Her heart raced, not only for the excitement of the culmination of the project, but for the compromising position she had found herself in.  She looked up to watch Raboniel’s expression. Her eyes were closed and her head lolled to the side. A moan escaped her, long and low. Navani flinched, starting to pull her hand back, but Raboniel’s eyes flew open and she held Navani’s hand, and the fabrial, down against her carapace. Their eyes locked in mutual excitement, mutual relief, mutual joy. This device would change so much. Had something changed between them too? Navani felt dizzy. “This is incredible,” Raboniel exulted. In every facet of this experience, Navani agreed.

Laran/Lyn, rated Mature for mild gore, 400 words

“TOSS ME TO DAMNATION!” Laran yelled, then grimaced from the pain. A Fused had shattered her ankle in combat and she’d been forced to use the very last of her Stormlight to get to the ground below the fighting. She tried to take another limping step, but her ankle screamed its resistance to that idea, and she was forced to stop.  What now? Blessedly, a familiar short, squat figure in blue had spotted her and was flying her way, calling her name. Laran waved wildly. Lyn landed hard, already pulling out her spherepouch, but Laran shook her head. “Lyn, I couldn’t. How low are you, anyway? Let me look in there.” She tugged the pouch open, and sure enough it was low on Light.  Lyn yanked it away. “Hey, you can’t just go sticking your dirty fingers in a lady’s spherepouch!” she said with mock outrage. “Fine, I’ll use the last of it to find someone who can bring an Edgedancer.”  Laran looked up as Lyn flew off again. Much better to look at Lyn's retreating form than to look down, where she was slowly bleeding out. Storms, that last attempt at walking had pushed a bone out further. Look away. Don’t pass out. Keep breathing. It’ll be over soon. Her saviour in blue landed again a short time later and kneeled beside her. “Okay, the Edgedancer’s on their way. Now you can stick your dirty fingers in my pouch,” Lyn said with a grin.  Gratefully, Laran breathed in what was left, and she felt the cold relief of Stormlight coursing through her as her broken bone retreated back under her skin. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to heal everything, but at least she wasn't bleeding out anymore. She moved to stand, but Lyn pushed her back down to sitting.  “You still can't walk,” Lyn said, a hand on Laran’s chest to push her back. “You stay right there.” “But…but the pain…” Laran said, making sad eyes. “How will I make it through?” Lyn smirked. “I know a way to make you forget the pain,” she said, and leaned forward. Her lips were dry and chapped from the wind, but Laran didn’t mind. She let Lyn push her the rest of the way back onto the ground, and between Lyn’s smiling kiss and her warm body, Laran didn’t even notice when the Edgedancer arrived.

Oh fun pairing! I wrote this as a little continuation of my fic Plagued by the Horrors, also rated Teen.

Radiant/Venli, rated Teen, 200 words

“So you’re really coming back?” Radiant asked with notes of Pleading. Venli turned to take a last look at the woman she’d accidentally slept with last night. Tall and solid, like the statues she’d seen in Kholinar, but vibrantly colourful and warm with life. She could do worse. Much worse. She realized with a shock that it felt easy to be with Radiant because Venli hadn’t betrayed her in some way. Not yet. But somehow, the prospect didn’t bother her as much.  Maybe Radiant could be a path forward for Venli, to learn how to be trustworthy without worrying about adding to the heavy, lingering guilt she carried with her everywhere. Timbre pulsed briefly to Reprimand. Maybe you could learn to like her for herself, and not just as a stepping stool to Radiance. Her spren’s Rhythm changed to Joy. All right, all right, I’m trying, Timbre! She saw the look of confusion on Radiant’s face and hummed to Amusement. By the Rider of the Storm, it felt good to have that Rhythm pulsing through her again. “Am I coming back to the one person in the world who inexplicably seems to like me? Yeah, I’m coming back,” she said to Confidence, and reached up to kiss her goodbye, just for now.
