The attractiveness of intelligence
Jasnah did not look back, but she heard the girl hastily pack her things. She shook her head. Shallan was severely lacking, but if she truly was self-taught, perhaps the girl would be worth a try.
In her alcove, the books were daunting. It would be another long night. Jasnah could not remember the last time she had gotten a full night's rest. She sunk into her seat. The diamond broams shone brightly, dousing the alcove in blue light.
Jasnah didn't get far when she sensed a presence at the doorway to her alcove. Irritation welled up.
“If you continue to bother me, I will strip you of the privilege of being my ward.”
“Then I'm glad I'm no ward of yours.”a hoarse, feminine voice laughed. It was a grating sound. “So the redhead was here again. I saw her on the way to the bedchambers. A stubborn lass.”
“Raevenne.”, Jasnah said, surprised by the woman’s presence. The woman pulled back the hood of her cloak. “I did not expect your appearance tonight.”
“Mhm.”, Raevenne grumbled and pulled out a black strip of cloth to cover her eyes. “Must you use this much light?”
“It is late. What other light is there?”, Jasnah argued, though she did cover them with a black, sheer cloth. It was the same fabric Raevenne used, but her blindfold was darker due to its multiple folding.
The light was dimmed and Jasnah closed her book. She would not get much reading done, it seemed. Raevenne stayed where she was.
“Don't stop on my behalf.”
“The light hurts your eyes.”
“How caring.”, Raevenne drawled and stepped closer to the table. Jasnah could still see the furrowed brows.
In the dim light, Raevenne’s prominent cheekbones seemed more hollow and the gnarly scar spanning from her eye across her face to her lips, giving them an expression of perpetual sneering, protruded. Jasnah’s finger itched to follow its trail.
Raevenne shoved the diamond broams aside and took a seat opposite of Jasnah, who arched an eyebrow.
“That is my light.”
“Eh, you're not reading anyway. Besides, as you said, it's late.”, Raevenne said. Her metal arm echoed as the elbow was set on the table. Her fingers interlaced and she supported her chin on the back of her hands, looking at Jasnah with an…expression. It was only due to having spent prolonged time with the woman that Jasnah knew what various expressions were supposed to be.
This one, with the crooked, lopsided grin and uneven brows, was supposed to be seductive.
“Come to bed.”, Raevenne purred.
“I cannot. There is still research to do.”, Jasnah said and Raevenne snorted. “However”, the princess added and reached for the diamond bromes again, “you are most welcome to go ahead.”
To undermine her point, Jasnah opened her book, pulled the glowing bromes back to the centre of the table and Raevenne flinched at the brightness. She pulled the hood over her head again and deep into her face. The darkness was much more comfortable than the cold Stormlight. Slowly, she rose to her feet. Halfway to the doorframe, she stopped and stretched.
“Perhaps that's what I will do. A pity you won't join me.”, she sighed and Jasnah glanced at her, narrowing her eyes. Underneath her hood, Raevenne smirked triumphantly. Her metal fingers reached into the pocket of her trousers and with flourish, revealed a small, folded piece of paper. Jasnah noticed the prosthetic's hand looking different. There were three circular bumps on the back of the hand. Jasnah recognised the pattern only too well. Raevenne looked over her shoulder, meeting Jasnah's eyes from underneath the hood.
“I would have loved to reveal to you the solution of the riddle we stumbled across in one of the history books.”
“You have translated and solved it already?”, Jasnah said and shot up from her seat.
“Who do you think I am? Finding a dictionary was the least of my troubles, as it turned out. The translation was the challenge. I had to translate the riddle into Shin first, because modern Alethi lacks the vocabulary and it is easier to translate from Shin to Alethi. I'm telling you, I was so close to flipping -”
“Show me.”, Jasnah said and clutched Raevenne's arm.
“You love it when I talk smartly.”, Raevenne mumbled and cackled. While Jasnah's composure was unchanged, her pupils were dilated and the grip on Raevenne's hand was bone-crushing.
However, to Jasnah's fascinated horror, the piece of paper melted into smoke.
“A Soulcaster. You madwoman. How?”
Raevenne coughed a laugh and kissed Jasnah. “That is a tale to tell another day. But I truly have the riddle translated and solved.”
“And you'll only show me if I come with you.”, Jasnah finished. “Trickster.”
“Come with me and go to sleep, and I'll tell you in the morning.”
Jasnah exhaled sharply through her nose and looked back to her books. When her shoulders slumped and she crossed her arms, Raevenne knew she had won. The books and diamond bromes stayed where they were, as no one would clean up the princess' alcove. Her orders.
*
The door to her bedroom reminded Jasnah that she had a ward now. That was a problem for tomorrow. Inside the room, Raevenne shed her cloak and Jasnah grabbed the prosthetic's wrist.
“The gems are underneath the bumps, I assume.”
Raevnne flicked the wrist and the bumps - actual caps covering the gems - opened.
“I designed it myself.”, Raevenne said and Jasnah shivered. They dressed for bed, Jasnah in a proper night shift and Raevenne in a wide shirt and wide pants. The moment they hit the bed, Jasnah jumped her secret lover.
“You translated the riddle.”, she breathed between kisses, “And you solved it. Was it difficult?”
“It did warrant a lot of research.” Raevnne lifted her blindfold and grinned up at Jasnah, who shivered when the sharp metal pointer travelled up her calf to her thigh. “I can tell you all about it. How I found out what language it was. How I found a dictionary. How I translated it to Shin. Would that please you, princess?”, Raevenne rasped as she watched her melt under her touch.
She found her answer in Jasnah's hungry eyes.

Happy Halloween! Enjoy a little Explicit-rated Noura/Fen 😏
---
"I'm storming old enough to know better. I don't see why I should feel like this," Noura grumbled even as she gasped.
She stood weakly, her back propped against the wall as she rocked her hips against Fen's hand.
"Don't tell me I have to sign another agreement just for your emotions," Fen teased. One hand was slick against her slit. Fen's other hand was deftly wending its way through the layers of Noura's robes to grasp her breast.
"I suppose I'll have to let my passions guide me," Noura teased back.
"That's the best you can do?" Fen gloated, and slid her wetted fingers inside.
Considering that a lifetime of service to the Azish Empire had not prepared her at all for these sensations, Noura managed to imagine that she was actually doing quite admirably.
"Faster, please, Your Majesty," was all she was able to muster.

Radiant/Venli, 3, for the kissing ask game :3
I will write a kiss… 3. …goodbye.
Oh fun pairing! I wrote this as a little continuation of my fic Plagued by the Horrors, also rated Teen.
Radiant/Venli, rated Teen, 200 words
“So you’re really coming back?” Radiant asked with notes of Pleading. Venli turned to take a last look at the woman she’d accidentally slept with last night. Tall and solid, like the statues she’d seen in Kholinar, but vibrantly colourful and warm with life. She could do worse. Much worse. She realized with a shock that it felt easy to be with Radiant because Venli hadn’t betrayed her in some way. Not yet. But somehow, the prospect didn’t bother her as much. Maybe Radiant could be a path forward for Venli, to learn how to be trustworthy without worrying about adding to the heavy, lingering guilt she carried with her everywhere. Timbre pulsed briefly to Reprimand. Maybe you could learn to like her for herself, and not just as a stepping stool to Radiance. Her spren’s Rhythm changed to Joy. All right, all right, I’m trying, Timbre! She saw the look of confusion on Radiant’s face and hummed to Amusement. By the Rider of the Storm, it felt good to have that Rhythm pulsing through her again. “Am I coming back to the one person in the world who inexplicably seems to like me? Yeah, I’m coming back,” she said to Confidence, and reached up to kiss her goodbye, just for now.
