I think one of my favorite things about Project Hail Mary is how it portrays the organism, Astrophage. The movie and book (especially the movie with the special effects they used) don't necessarily portray it as an evil villain that needs to be defeated the way other stories probably would, but a force of nature that is going on pure instinct to survive. And unfortunately, the Earth's sun just happened to be what it needs to sustain its existence. Overall, the movie just does such an incredible job showing how Astrophage, despite what it's capable of doing, is also a beautiful part of the natural world. I'm not sure if this makes sense, but I view this story as a unique execution of the Man vs Nature story conflict.
