Story Journal - Week 1

This week I noted a lot about Storyfest and food. I realize that work and food experiences really do inspire me to be creative. My position as Marketing Assistant has me doing just about everything creative you can think of so it really helps that I can use everything I’ve learned at Full Sail in real-world experience.

I noticed that there is a theme throughout this journal. I wrote a lot about my food experiences. I take those moments extremely seriously, I love connecting with my food and creating a permanent memory.

An emerging story kernel that I see from this week’s journal could deal with food and an out of this world experience.

“Sweetie, you have to throw this away.“ The little boy looked up at his mother standing in the doorway, holding up a journal. “But that’s my story journal.“ The little boy said, a tad surprised since he hid it very well. “Yes, but you can’t write stuff like this.“ The mother looked at him as if he were an insect. “Why not? I like my stories.“ He looked confused. “Because it is not normal. You must not write about fake stuff like this.“ An frown appeard on the mother’s face. “My stories are not fake.“ The boy tried to explain, but the mother didn’t listen. Instead she let out an arrogant laugh. “Ha, please, you can’t be serious.“ He, however, did not understand. And this wasn’t just because he isn’t even halfway through pre school. “These are unreal, you cannot write about this anymore.“ As she goes to throw away the journal. “Wait!“ The little boy panicked. “Why are they unreal?“ He asked. She stopped and let the journal hover over the trash can. “Because you can not fly, you cannot talk with animals and you cannot make toys come to life.“ “But just because I can’t really do all that, doesn’t have to mean that the stories aren’t real.“
