Story Saturday — An Exchange of Hats

On November 2, 2552, following the death of the Prophet of Regret, the Prophet of Truth replaced Sangheili Honor Guards with Jiralhanae—setting in motion his plan to remove the Sangheili from the Covenant leadership.

Seeing this as a violation of the Covenant founding charter, the Sangheili threatened to resign from the High Council. The next day, numerous Sangheili councilors and honor guards were taken to Installation 05, where they were executed by Jiralhanae. The Great Schism had begun.

On Installation 04, John-117 had a particularly close call with the Flood. A pod infector latched onto his back, burrowing into the seams of his Mark V armor. Before it could infect him, Cortana overloaded his shields, killing the Flood form.
