Until I started writing with the hope of becoming published, I hadn’t realized how much revision goes into writing a book. Anything from small edits, adding/deleting scenes, to changing plot points that alter the entire story. It’s a lot of work and a time-consuming process as even the smallest changes can result in alterations throughout the rest of the book. But it’s also very satisfying to read through the changes later and see how they have improved the story. After I finished the first draft of book 2, I took a month away from it so I could read it with fresh eyes. That “reread” has turned into an entire rewrite of the book. It’s exciting to see the story change and improve and it’s also made me wonder what the original drafts of my favourite books were like. Were the plots in the original drafts of The Hobbit or Pride and Prejudice completely different from the final books that were published? If anyone knows of some Tolkien original drafts, let me know! ••• #author #bookstagram #fiction #fictionseries #adventurefiction #womensfiction #writerslife #reader #writerscommunity #authorssupportingauthors #bookworm #readersofinstagram #novelseries #bookstagrammer #romance #creativity #writemore #canadianauthor #albertawriter #thoughts #creativewriting #bookaddict #historicalnovel #romancereads #litfic #literature #draft #revising #revision (at Calgary, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPOakOOtMJl/?utm_medium=tumblr
