Not me having a mental crashout remembering that Broken is loyal to both Tower AND Wild in cannon. This makes writing Broken’s allegiances within this storyline… Interesting, to say the least.

Do you ever get a chapter continuation idea so deeply symbolic on the elements of recovery from childhood trauma that you get super emotional, but you can’t explain it to anyone yet because it’s major spoilers for the longfic you’re writing?

Heyo! For those of y’all who are just landing and are interested in reading, I just wanna preface that Borrowed Paths is very heavily cannon divergent / “alternate” on the alternate universe element. Character personalities are generally preserved, but the circumstances they are thrown into are not. And changes may occur in their vibes/development throughout, based on their interactions & experiences with other characters.

For example: Witch & Damsel are both teens, The Narrator takes up LQ’s mantle as the determined slayer, and Quiet is kinda just. Vibing out in the cabin. The path in the woods is one of the few safe spaces, opposed to a spot of gory demise. The Voices are kinda just lil critters running around and like 95% of the ladies are tiny folk running from crazy shit. Beast & Den’s species is an entire distinct race with their own culture & lore that coincides with the other Princesses, etc etc. Think like heavy medieval fantasy stuff with faerie/tiny folk lore n all that jazz.

I just figured I would mention that in case that lures anyone in who wants a bit of Non-Construct STP fic flavor! General prose format, cut up into usual story arcs etc — I know there aren’t a lot of those in this fandom (and I totally understand why), so hope that does help bridge that gap for folks who do prefer that kind of read. I’m here with the folks that put their lil guys in very non-cannon Situations 👍

Next chapter is finished on AO3, and a new arc has begun! Just gotta cross-post here and make it official.

Tw: Witch’s current arc is another heavy one. While not super present in it yet, the usual OBP themes of murder, stalking, panic attacks and closed-off & distrusting victims are amplified given that the subject (within fic context) is a minor. However, as always, all subject matter is handled with respect & care. And I promise no bad ends, despite the content. She’ll be ok ;w;
