It’s St. Patrick’s Day so our Holiday Fear ☘️ St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ edition is coming to a close. For our last selection we it was announced in our story yesterday that it would be a selection from the Leprechaun franchise (Warwick Davis era) but we asked you all to make the decision of which one! It was super close but it our winner for fan favorite installment was the first and original 1993 film Leprechaun, staring Warwick Davis and Jennifer Aniston! Falling in a super close second was Leprechaun in the Hood. So that closes it as we have spent the last 10 days featuring 10 films to get you in the Irish spirit (check our story for a recap of the 10 films). Our Holiday Fear ☘️ St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ edition is here and this one might shock you but the pick for today is the 2018 film Leprechaun Returns. I’m not going to lie, I actually had fun with this one. Unlike the previous reboot attempt, this one captured the mood pretty well as the Leprechaun come out in full comedic affect. Not all jokes land but it had some good gore and enough humor to keep me hooked. Safe to say not many actors will match Warwick Davis so I think they took the safe route by avoiding extensive dialogue and just delivering some tasty limericks. Our Holiday Fear ☘️ St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ edition is the 2014 Irish horror film The Canal. This film revolves around a family who moves to a home rumored to be haunted. Once the husband suspects his wife is cheating, he begins to spiral into madness as he begins seeing figures who may be out to get his loved ones. This film was effective at times and able to build some suspense. It struggles a little with trying to combine thriller with demonic entities but overall was a decent film, worth the watch some interesting Irish horror. We are on to our 4th of 10 Holiday Fear ☘️ St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ edition and we are going to turn things around and throw in a film I actually enjoyed (last two = not so good). Today we have the 2012 film Citadel. This Irish horror film revolves around a man who becomes agoraphobic after witnessing the slaughter of his wife by a gang of hooded predators who seem like a cross between zombies and vampires. Flash forward, while receiving help with his agoraphobia, his new romantic interest is attacked in an alley and he is chased down by the same hooded attackers who abduct his infant. He gets help from an angry priest and a little boy who has some abilities to infiltrate the predators to get his baby back.
