I'm doing everything in my brainpower to conjure more strahmgordon... they're both angry men, capable and adept at work, at cruelty, and at taking matters into their own hands. This is a ship that can be volatile! Witty! They're each other's equals. Mutual respect, competitive flirting.
In a post-canon world, they each can be hardened by age and grief. Or softened by it, putty for each other, another person who understands survivorship and loss. Or one half is hardened by it (Strahm: losing Perez, losing Hoffman), and one is burdened/softened by it (Lawrence: losing Adam, living with his terrible deeds once Jigsaw apprenticeship is done for). Their respective dark moods!
