Straiton church walk.
This popular walk was in danger of not remaining accessible and with South Ayrshires outdoor access fund not being able to cope with the pressures placed on it, the NCCBC were very happy to work with the council and through joint funding we are happy to say this popular walk has now been reopened.

The award was from North Carrick Community Benefit company, which is funded by Scottish Power Renewables, and the total was made up of contributions to two initiatives in the village.
Straiton Public Toilets project was awarded £6,000 to cover work to repair and upgrade the toilets.
Straiton Stores received £4,000 to cover the cost of equipment as well as £1,000 to cover costs for a feasibility study.

Nando's Signup to Straiton Retail Park
The worldwide chicken restaurant "Nando's" has revealed that they hope to open in Midlothian's Straiton Retail Park by January 2015.
Further details are not available at this time however it is believed that the chain will neighbour Frankie & Bennies in a, yet to be built, restaurant unit.
With the current spate of construction work scheduled to end in June, work will likely commence on the eatery in Autumn.
Nando's join Nike and CSL Sofas who both intend to open this year, in February and May respectively.
Future developments at the park include a 'fashion terrace' across from Homebase and a department store on recently cleared land beside the former Next store on the lower tier. Construction of both of these is unannounced however it will likely coincide with the construction of Nando's later this year, as planning permission prepares to expire.
The new developments, provided by Peel Holdings, will create the largest Peel owned shopping centre away from England. The Peel Centre Straiton will also be the most diverse of their retail parks offering home and fashion along with entertainment and restaurants. It will be the first retail park to also feature Nando's and as such a creative design will likely be used.
However the much anticipated cinema is still unannounced and it is unknown whether the park's owner will alter department store plans to include a cinema to capture the demand.
