Stranger’s probably our favourite concept store in Lagos. They’ve been open for 2 years now, and there’s still something distinctly fresh about them. Some of their freshness is because despite industry pressures they’ve refused to bow to the status quo (which is admittedly a bit dull). They’re unapologetic about their oddness, and this is reflected in the clothes stocked there and in the way they’re packaged.

They’ve come out with their Spring/Summer 2015 editorial, “Mythopoesis”, which means the making of myths. It features the work from two young artists, Adeju Thompson and Tunde Alara, who developed the cartoonish characters, and otherworldly scenery visible in the images. The effect of this is transportative.It reminds us of the animated dance sequence in Mary Poppins.

The designers featured in this editorial are Peir Wu (inspired by 1940s sportswear and the ease of Jean Michel Frank’s furniture), U.Mi-1( inspired by Igbo culture) and Iamisigo (inspired by the Fulani Woodabe tribe).

Suitable for: People who live life in cartoon motion.
