Tenth Avenue North
WORSHIP SUNDAY: Strangers Here by Tenth Avenue North - There are few Christian bands that have ever successfully crossed over. Jars of Clay and Switchfoot are two that come to mind, but Tenth Avenue North is one that has the potential be another big crossover Christian act. This band had been going for nearly a decade when they finally released a well received debut album Over and Underneath in 2008. Each album since has been more confident and assured even as it reaches further beyond their core Christian audience.
The Struggle was a breakout album last summer with the lead song Losing getting significant play. The song I really liked though was Strangers Here, which was the working title for the album before they settled on the Struggle, which better represents the overall theme of redemption. Strangers Here is really the standout track though, a slow starting pop-rock tune that then launches into a chorus that just grab you. As it says in 1 Peter 1:!7, we are indeed strangers in a strange land, awaiting the day when we will be reunited with our Lord. Though we may struggle now, our pain is a temporary one.
I know you’re tired of the hurt and the heartache You feel like giving in, you feel like walking away And I know it’s difficult feeling so out of place But this is not how it’s gonna be Your pain is temporary
We’re all strangers here So it’s alright if you can’t Stop the tears that you cry ‘Cause some day we’ll touch the face of our God And the sorrow will disappear Until then, we’re strangers here

It's alright if you can't stop the tears that you cry 'cause someday we'll touch the face of our God, and the sorrow will disappear. Until then we're strangers here.
