That's what you get for having the nerve to be cute and friendly but not cute and friendly ENOUGH. Becoming a grouchy beast is the only way out. Of course, then you're stuck being a grouchy beast.
Did you mean: Stan in the Summer tourist season? I am hella cute and friendly today, too, since I'm meant to go out with my MIL and sFIL for dinner tonight after work. But, hey, I didn't respond appropriately, I must be a bitch. :|

That does sound unpleasant and it's sad when people feel it's okay to be mean when you don't act nice or friendly enough to them, even though you are perfectly pleasant. I hope your day gets nicer. :)
Thank you! And thanks to everyone else who has been really sweet and supportive about having douchebaggy customers.
I think a required stint in retail or restaurant service would do wonders for people's empathy, honestly. *sigh*
Admittedly, this was followed by an incident where a couple left 7 children unattended in our store - and not just our store, my floor. It is clearly a showroom, this is clearly not a store for kids, and I had to ask them a few times to not harass the moose and not...sprawl out on the floor where other customers were walking. "Oh, we were coming back," I was assured half an hour later, when they did come back.
The thing that really sticks with me is that even though the faux pas was theirs, even though I did my best to be polite and sweet while enforcing store rules, they are sure to leave with a negative opinion of our store.
Sorry, tumblr; today is "Stan complains about customers" day, it seems.
