I have had Endometriosis symptoms for 15 years. I'll be 31 on Monday.

I've only recently found an OBGYN / Excision specialist who scheduled surgery for Sept. 10th.

I've spent years trying various birth controls, ruptured cysts, painful ovulation and periods, etc. I've had plenty of normal tests and imagining as well as two normal colonoscopies.

I've started losing control of my bladder and having urinary issues ultimately pushing me to finally get answers.

Despite my surgeon being highly confident he'll find Endo, I'm more afraid of him not finding anything than the surgery itself.

What helps get over this fear?

In July and August 2020 after I drove back down to St. Louis from Montana I moved into an apartment in my college's co-op that was one floor above the one I'd be living in that coming school year. I guess I disliked the vibes in the bedrooms (one medium, one tiny) so much for no specific reason that I unfolded the shitty navy blue daybed in the living room (it really did just kind of unfold, don't know how to describe it--it was more like an upholstered gym mat than a piece of furniture with joints and parts) and slept on that in front of a huge white box fan with all the windows and the door to the deck open (A/C off, bug screens closed) for the rest of the summer. I couldn't explain why I didn't like the bedrooms, had never had that reaction to any part of a home before. People were genuinely worried about me because of this set up with the heat, but it was supremely peaceful and worked very well. Later, in the middle of a severe pain episode that forced me into one of the beds, I looked up at the ceiling in the tiny bedroom and saw a massive amount of black mold that had not been visible when I moved in. So I did end up getting diagnosed with endometriosis but I DIDN't end up with mold poisoning. The end.

one thing they did not tell me about pelvic floor therapy for endometriosis-stiffened muscles is that the body has so much more pee than you ever imagined possible. the piss must flow and i am riding Shai-Hulud straight to the bathroom 300 times a day. we don't need no galactic holy war, i got us covered (in piss).

I had my gynaecology appointment

The doctor was talking about them not knowing what my cyst was but I said no I had another scan and it is an endotrioma which my GP confirmed and I saw it on notes

He didn't realise I had another scan so then he checked and confirmed it is an endotrioma which is endometriosis. He said he isn't worried as my main pain is on my period but I do get pain throughout month but that may be related to my gastro stuff which I'm on a waiting list to explore with gastrology

Also he said my cyst is 4cm and he said it gets worrying at 7cm+ as it can twist the ovaries and its life threatening. 😰 He said the next course of action is an MRI because endometriosis can grow all over the place and cause problems

I forgot to tell him i'm on holiday next month but I doubt i'd get an MRI in 4 weeks time. I have to go back in 3-6 months after the MRI

33 and Going Through Menopause

33 years old and about to go through menopause for the next 3–6 months. Am I an overachiever or what? lol I had my post-op follow-up this week, and everything went really well. I’m healing better than I expected, which is a huge relief because just a week ago I was convinced this whole recovery process was going to drag forever. Now comes the next part. Two fucking months without my periods because of endometriosis and a thing kinda like PCoS but it’s not PCoS and there’s no real treatment and a lot of the symptoms overlap airy endometriosis so I never bothered to remember the name.

Two fucking months without my periods and when do they decide to make a comeback? When I’m on vacation in Algeria… I’m so lucky I listened to my instincts and took pads for my trip at the last minute… (obviously there’s pads in Algeria but I have my habits). And not only do they decide to come say hello now but the timing within the trip itself is the worst… we’re supposed to spend the week end at my grandpa with everyone except I’ll be in too much pain to have proper fun… I also hate sleeping at an other place when I have my periods.

I spent my day in denial pretending my sore muscles were caused by a poor sleeping position or the fact that I’m sleeping in a different bed that the one I have in France… but then I went to pee before going to bed and I realized what was happening… I swear usually I got at the very least 3 months without my periods (usually between 4 and 5) but this time no…. The one time I absolutely don’t want them they decided it’s time to say hello (on top of cramps my lower back hurts like hell during my period and I’m all sore and stiff as if I had spent the previous day at the gym without proper warming up)
