The kids and I spent a lovely morning snuggling, reading aloud + writing stories. I am increasingly convinced that, though I make SO many mistakes in parenting, reading aloud is (the one?) thing I always do right. It's good to have one thing you are confident you can ROCK, isn't it? . View B of the #gypsumskirt is kind of like that; super simple, but immensely gratifying to make + wear. It can handle heavier fabrics than its big-pocketed counterpart. Here, I used a screen printed "mud cloth" from @genevievegorder which is actually intended for upholstery. Pshaw, I say! If I like the fabric, I will wear it. 😆 Worn here with my silk noil #stratatop and an @elegantees duster.

The #gypsumskirt is ready for testing! I'm in need of a handful of testers. If you've made the Arenites, the Gypsum is basically a skirt version! Look 10/10: "In like a lamb, out like a lion." 😕 #spring10x10 🖤 It's nearly freezing right now and will be cold for the next handful, so you can expect that I'll be wearing some version of this #arenitepants + #stratatop top + jean jacket + warm accessories for the upcoming week. ❄ In other news, my youngest two are heading to the (cold) beach with my husband and his parents for five nights. I'll miss them something crazy, but it means that I'll have my eldest to myself for the first time in since he was 21 months old! I'm planning some long hikes, art museum vistits ... you know, the things you can't really do in the company of a four year-old! Those of you with older kids - what are some of your favorite mama/kid dates? ✨💖

Look four, #spring10x10 : #gypsumskirt in caramel silk noil, #stratatop in silk noil that I dyed with with logwood and indigo, thrifted jacket, gifted pashmina scarf. I'm realizing that I may need to swap out my Wiksten Oversized Jacket for something a bit more appropriate for this beautiful weather we're having. My jean jacket and the occasional scarf give me all the warmth I'm needing. I'm thinking jeans, but I may also go with my State Smock. 🤔 Also, I found the most fun jewelry at my farmer's market this weekend: @vivianblancojewelry makes such unique architectural wire pieces.

Happy Easter! The kids are planting seeds in our front yard urban garden, and we are preparing for our family's traditional Mexican egg hunt - cascarones! Confetti-filled eggs that we smash on each other's heads. 🙄 Day 3, #spring10x10 : wearing my #stratatop over my #hinterlanddress over my #arenitepants. I really love this combo!
