Rant incoming
Okay so I just watched the guitar rig rundown for Dan Auerbach of the black keys for the El Camino tour (basically an interview with famous guitarists or their techs where they show the guitars and amps and pedals they use on tour). And he’s got all these vintage amps, guitars, and some pedals. The black keys have always been proponents of a vintage, lo-fi, analogue sound (which I’m all for and am a champion myself). But I have now lost a ton of respect for Dan. For this tour, Dan and his tech designed a midi switching rig, which basically means all of his pedals are backstage, and if he forgets to turn something off or wanders offstage, his tech can work the pedals for him. His tech said that “dan can’t be bothered with the pedals when he is concentrating on performing.” Now hold the heck up. As a performing guitarist I take this quite seriously. If you can’t be bothered to control your guitars, amps, pedals, etc while you’re onstage, then please step out of the limelight and allow someone who can to take your place. Now for guitarists like The Edge or Matt Bellamy or even Jimmy Page who have enough effects pedals to fill the stage this is perfectly acceptable. But for a grimy, basic two-piece in the same neighbourhood as The White Stripes, this is pure lazy. From a performance standpoint and from an analog standpoint, this is not acceptable. 99.9 percent of fans don’t even know what I’m talking about here or if they do don’t care otherwise, which is fine. But I do and I’m angry.
I will not be buying any records, concert tickets, or voluntarily listening to anything made by the Black Keys from now on.

There’s three types of people in the world Those who don’t know what happened Those who wonder what happened And people like us…that make things happen

The bolder ones for the ask
13- In my opinion:a. most underrated classic rock band or b. most overrated classic rock band?
Honestly, I don’t like to think of anything as underrated or overrated. I think it’s about luck that some got overrated (or popular) and some didn’t. Some were successful (business-wise) and they reached out more to people, so you get to hear their name and songs everywhere. Both categories have their owns fans. It’s not fair to judge a band as overrated because of their fan-base size, how prevailing it is, or by their music.
27-Political message song that I:a. hate or b. love?
I love Civil War by Guns N’ Roses. I don’t think I hate any.
28- Favorite male folk singer-songwriter:
Donovan.
29-Favorite female folk singer-songwriter:
Joni Mitchell.
30- Favorite of the great classic rock bands:Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Queen, Pink Floyd, or another?
I’m not sure what is this question about, but I’m assuming favorite song?
Led Zeppelin: Achilles Last Stand.
The Beatles: Hey Jude.
The Rolling Stones: Gimmie Shelter.
The Who: Summertime Blues.
Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody
Pink Floyd: Echoes.
Thank you! :)

Would the three people who unfollowed me after I posed about the reality of guns in the US care to share why? Perhaps it's because it didn't conform to the view of guns society would like you to have?
