Let’s Wine, Not Dine

The magic of her first date with Erwin lingered for the rest of the week, long past Halloween and up until the day they had chosen to meet again for their second.

 It had been almost a week, and though it felt like an eternity, she still had his morning coffee visits to look forward to. That, and of course the Halloween pictures he had promised to send (and though she did not dress for the occasion, she did send him a picture of her carved up jack-o'-lantern. 

 But there was one thing that had caused her trouble: where they would be having their next date. He had told her to pick what she wanted to do, and all honesty, she really had no idea. Dinner seemed to be the usual go to, but seeing as how that was their first, she was not keen on asking him to take her to yet another 'fancy' restaurant. 

 But as if by some grace of God, as the titian haired young woman voiced her frustrations to her roommate, she was presented with the perfect idea. 

A winery, Auruo had suggested as he flipped through the pages of a magazine, spotting a wine tasting and tour event advertisement for one just outside the city limits. It was ideal; something new, something different, and definitely something she liked. And after posing the idea to him, she was happy to see that he too was up for such an event. 

But there was one little problem...

She knew nothing of wine.

The Straw AU || Erutra

Petra had half a mind to quit then and there. Her shift had only started an hour ago, and she had already made enough caramel macchiatos, vanilla frozen cappuccinos, and nonfat iced caffè lattes to quench the morning caffeine thirst of the entire city...almost. She had a vague idea the moment Auruo told her Eld had to call out sick that morning that she was going to be overwhelmed. But this was nothing like she had expected. 

The names were a blur to her, only taking the cups as Auruo passed them off and fulfilling the order directed on the side of the cup. He threw her an occasional sympathetic look; he too was overwhelmed at the cash register, but knew she was going a bit crazier with all pots of coffee brewing and blenders whirling. Petra was surprised she had yet to drop anything, slip on ice, or even burn her hand with the sloshing, hot as lava coffee as she all but threw the pot back onto its burner.

She plucked the next order from the line us cups on her counter; a hot beverage she could already deduce from the type of cup set out. Taking in a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself within the chaos, she quickly glanced over the order and set off to preparing the caramel latte with cinnamon and extra whip for ‘Erwin.’ 

But of course, with all places of business, and especially ones that were busy and short staffed, a mistake or two were bound to happen. Without even realizing (perhaps it was because Auruo was trying to point her attention to someone in the shop,) that caramel latte with cinnamon and extra whip for ‘Erwin’ turned into a mocha latte with cinnamon and extra whip. Certainly a minor mistake, but never one to be overlooked by a paying customer. 

Petra popped the lid onto the now filled cup, slipping a cardboard cozy onto the order and setting it on top of the pick up counter.

“Erwin.” She called out, before turning to complete the next order.
