Let me just drop some lore art of my universe’s Aether real quick (and a little rough scene I’ve written that’s just been sitting in my docs for a bit. I’m not getting to that chapter for *awhile*, so I figure it’s fiinnneee).

Anyhow, Doodles and Drabble under the cut 😌:

These doodles/unfinished drawings are mostly just DB+HB teenage & newly immortal adult tomfoolery. Jeb got the more serious art here (ft. kiddo Brine).

Dinnerbone flopped into his bed with a moan. His symptoms had been getting worse lately. Herobrine could’ve seen that even without his roommate’s constant complaining; he didn’t blame him for it either. After all, the apothecary couldn’t do a thing for the poor guy; their potions and apples had done nothing to ease his pain. Herobrine watched quietly from over his book as the older boy resumed his usual ritual. DB leaned over the small bed, dangling his head upside down, as he did everyday.

“ You know, I swear I’m going to find Notch and have him fix this,” Dinnerbone groaned out. “He’ll come down here soon enough.” Dark purple eyes fell upon him as he spoke. Herobrine knew why. The gods- no, Notch, had taken an interest in Herobrine for Aether knows why. He had been adopted into the royal family (although he chose to ignore that more often than not). Herobrine closed his book rather forcefully with a huff.

“I keep telling you, that’s an awful idea,” he growled. They’d had the argument over and over again. He was sick of it. DB rolled his eyes, as per usual when the topic arose.

“C’mon Hero, I keep telling you you must’ve misunderstood.” And there it was, the sympathetic voice that he was beginning to seriously hate. The one his friend used whenever they discussed what Herobrine had witnessed in the back courtyard.

“Don’t c’mon Hero me.” He found himself clenching the blanket beneath him. “I know what I saw!”

“We are the precious Aether youth. Notch wouldn’t command something like that.”

“He did! I heard it! I saw it!” He was standing now. Why wouldn’t he just believe him? Herobrine hadn’t told anyone besides Dinnerbone. He didn’t have much of a social life outside of their friendship, after all. Regardless, this was dangerous information to have, and frankly he might not have even told DB if it weren’t for his illness. He needed to know. Needed to Believe him. Dinnerbone tried to sit up again and winced hard, giving up on the action in favor of keeping his head down.

“Listen, it’ll be fine-“

“No it fucking won’t!” Herobrine bit out the words. He was mad again. He wasn’t some stupid clueless child.

“You imagined it,” Dinnerbone snapped back. “You just had a shitty nightmare.” That was it, Herobrine wasn’t about to stand there and listen to this again. Without another word, he grabbed his book and stormed out of their dorm room, slamming the door on his way out. Dinnerbone did not follow.

Welcome back to my world building rambles and headcanons about my Minecraft world bs and Herobrine, Steve, and Alex ✨

Mostly because this is the only thing from keeping me from spoiling what I’ve written for my next fic chapter ahhhhh

Okay-

- Herobrine sucks at understanding the cost of things. He was asleep for a good while, and money changes a lot over time, so he underestimates just how much items cost. Alex and Steve just internally sob learning about how cheap some things used to be long ago.

- Another thing about currency, it’s changed since Notch’s dethroning. Herobrine pretty much had to relearn his coins because the ones he was used to got phased out entirely. On the bright side though, the old currency is worth more as a result.

- Children are almost never born in the Aether. It isn’t that it’s not possible, it’s just that Notch/Higher ups wanted control over who lived in the realm. Just about every citizen of the Aether originally came from the overworld.

- No Aether resident has been naturally immortal. Immortality is granted to them when they reach a certain age (varies from person to person). Not everyone survives this process either, as it is strenuous. Children and elderly almost never survive this.

- The Aether hasn’t recruited new residents since before Herobrine’s initial banishment.

- Jeb is the current ruler of the Aether.

- Humans live long lives in the Overworld nowadays. Advancements in potions and civilization has allowed mortals to live up to 150 years.

- Herobrine’s story is incredibly muddled amongst both the Aether and Overworld. The passage of time and the secrecy of the situation left many confused about who he really is. This caused some people to entirely separate Herobrine from “The Young Prince”, convinced they’re two different people.

- On top of this, visual depictions of Herobrine are often inaccurate, as there’s an assumption that he is biologically related to Notch. Therefore, according to that, surely he must resemble him in some way.

- Steve has plenty of living relatives, but he’s estranged. The only family member he hasn’t entirely cut out is his great grandmother, who was always a bit of a black sheep herself.

- Alex and Steve were friends as kids, but grew apart for awhile when Alex left to become an adventurer (much to her parent’s dismay). They got back in touch later when Steve left home.

- Alex has a younger sister, Ari.

- Steve was an only child.

- Herobrine had a younger sister, but no longer remembers her name (or anything about her, including her appearance).

- Herobrine breaths fire on occasion by accident. Instead of gleeking during a yawn? Fire. Sneezing? Fire. Coughing? Smoke.

- Most people have at least 1 inventory slot. Alex has 6, Steve has 5, and Herobrine has a whopping 41 (the same as the Aether gods).

- Herobrine can and does get sick on occasion. This is due to his extended slumber and time in the nether keeping him from being exposed to new illnesses. He hasn’t built his immune system back up yet.

- Alex is very good with metal work. She takes after her dad in that aspect and was almost a blacksmith.

Since I’m up despite it being 4am, I guess I’ll ramble a bit about world building stuffs bouncing around in my brain.

So, I imagine the Aether is very keen on keeping a heavenly type of image in general. Like-Notch and his closest companions obviously have the biggest, brightest, most intricate, obnoxious halos you could imagine. They’re not real obviously, it’s only for show; they have to maintain that superiority over everyone else, after all. I could see Aether residents wearing smaller halos too, cause obviously they wanna try to match their rulers. Makes the overworld residents more likely to obey too, so they kinda (definitely) take huge advantage of that.

In my canon here, the fact that Herobrine isn’t even allowed to refuse his ascension into the Aether to begin with is definitively part of that. Literally no one can refuse the order, but it’s phrased in such a way that it *seems* like an optional request. It’s the fake charisma for sure there. Like- sure you don’t really have a choice here, but don’t worry, have this medal, some gold, and the fame of the Aether’s mere presence in your pathetic mortal home.

I also like to think they have Pegasi in the Aether solely because I think flying chariots would be cool lol
