I've just gotten into the dragon age franchise this year and im still playing through them but i just wanted to let you know that reading your opinions about this game is so interesting esp about like solas, since when the game came out all i saw were solas fans

The amount of Solas fans is kinda interesting because before the game was released -- at least between the main tag here and BSN -- players that planned to romance Cullen outnumbered them by a decent margin up until word got out about how central Solas was to the plot and folks were intrigued about what made his romance so sad since he seemed so unimpressive. That word of mouth went on for a few weeks, growing into the ‘Solavellan Hell’ tagline as we know it, gaining more and more traction as more Trevelyans were abandoned for Lavellans, and here we are honestly. If Cullen was stronger he’d still be Top Sadman and humans would still reign. The more you know.

It is so wild to think that cullen would've been the most popular character out of all the romanceable options, were people defending or just theorizing about solas before the dlc came out for why he acts so odd ingame w/o having the dlc as supplemental content for them??

Yeah kinda but the content was mostly testimonials about being broken and being overcome with feels. But Solas being revealed as Fen’Harel put a lotta stuff into context & perspective while his motives and intentions were still kinda vague which made speculation a little fun. Personally I took his ‘the people; they need me’ line as conviction to help modern elves. 😅
