“Sugar & Champagne”
Tangerine x Strawberry
Warnings: Fluff | Romance | Post-Mission Getaway | Light Teasing | Domestic Sweetness
Summary: After weeks of chaos, Tangerine whisks Strawberry to Paris, expecting rest—only to find her twirling in a pink dress, laughter filling the room, reminding him what it means to love her.
The suite smelled faintly of roses and warm linen.
A chandelier glittered above, light scattering across pale gold walls and cream silk sheets.
Tangerine loosened his tie as he stepped out of the bathroom, hair still damp, his white shirt unbuttoned at the collar. For the first time in months, there were no phones ringing, no targets to track, no blood to wash off his hands. Just peace.
And then he froze mid-step.
Strawberry was in the middle of their bed, barefoot and laughing softly to herself, a delicate glass of champagne balanced in one hand. She wore a soft pink dress that flared like cotton candy every time she spun. Her long blonde hair fell in waves down her back, tied with a satin bow that bobbed with each playful twirl.
Tangerine blinked. “Bloody hell…”
She turned at the sound of his voice, balancing on her toes atop the mattress. “Oh, you’re done with your shower!”
“Done, yeah,” he said, crossing his arms, lips twitching. “But I didn’t realise I’d be comin’ back to a bloody ballet recital in me hotel room.”
She grinned, unbothered. “You said you wanted me to relax. I’m relaxing.”
“Relaxin’?” He raised a brow, smirking. “Love, you’re one bounce away from crackin’ your skull open on the headboard.”
She giggled, holding her skirt as she twirled again. “Then you’d have to catch me.”
He exhaled through a chuckle, shaking his head. “Course I bloody would.”
Tangerine walked closer, the bed dipping as he placed one knee on it. She stumbled slightly, her champagne sloshing. He caught her wrist before she fell, his other hand steadying her waist.
“See?” he murmured, voice low and teasing. “Now I’ve got to play babysitter on holiday.”
“Mm, you love it.”
She wasn’t wrong.
He looked at her—really looked. Her flushed cheeks, the glimmer of mischief in her eyes, the sparkle of the chandelier catching in her hair. She looked like she belonged in this room of gold and silk, laughter soft enough to melt every hard edge in his chest.
“Come here,” he said gently.
She tilted her head. “You’re already holding me.”
“Yeah, well,” his hand slid up her back, “I could hold you better.”
Her laugh turned into a small, breathless sound when he pulled her closer, champagne flute still trapped between them. “You’re impossible.”
He grinned. “And you’re trouble.”
Their lips met, soft at first—just a brush, a taste of sweetness and champagne. Then deeper, more certain. She melted against him, fingers curling in his half-buttoned shirt. The world outside faded—the muffled hum of the Paris streets, the faint sound of rain starting against the window.
When they finally broke apart, she looked up at him, smiling lazily. “You know, you really should smile more.”
He chuckled, running his thumb across her cheek. “I do. Just usually when you’re actin’ like a menace.”
She mock-pouted. “You love when I’m a menace.”
“Never said I didn’t.”
They fell back onto the bed, laughter echoing as she accidentally tipped the champagne over the sheets. Tangerine groaned, rolling his eyes while she hid her face behind her hands.
“Oh nooo—”
“Bloody hell, Strawberry,” he laughed, grabbing a pillow to mop it up. “You’ve just cost us a fortune in dry-cleanin’.”
“Guess we’ll have to stay another night then,” she teased, peeking at him with that little grin he could never resist.
He stared at her for a long moment, the corners of his mouth softening. “Yeah, maybe we will.”
⸻
Later, the room glowed dimly, lit only by the bedside lamp and the city lights beyond the window. Her pink dress lay draped over a chair, his shirt discarded somewhere on the floor.
Strawberry rested her head on Tangerine’s chest, tracing idle circles against his skin. He had one arm around her, thumb brushing lazily against her shoulder, eyes half-closed.
“This doesn’t feel real,” she whispered.
He hummed. “What doesn’t?”
“All of this. You. Me. Being here. No bullets. No running. Just… quiet.”
He opened his eyes then, looking down at her. “You deserve quiet, love.”
“So do you.”
“Yeah.” He smiled faintly. “But I only know how to get it when you’re around.”
She looked up at him, eyes shining with affection. “You’re such a softie, you know that?”
He scoffed, half a laugh rumbling through his chest. “Don’t go spreadin’ that about, yeah? Ruin me reputation.”
“I’d never.”
“You would.”
She giggled, snuggling closer. “Maybe.”
And for once, Tangerine didn’t think about work or enemies or what came next. The night was theirs—slow, golden, and filled with laughter.
He pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “You really are somethin’, Strawberry.”
“Good somethin’?” she murmured sleepily.
“The best bloody somethin’ I’ve ever had.”
