In 1967, a research team at Washington State University, led by Dr. C. D. Schwartze, developed a strawberry that produced not one, not two, but three yields of fruit over the course of spring and summer. It took C.D. twenty-five years of research to perfect these prolific little champions, but once established they quickly became favorites of home cooks and honeybees across the country. 🍓 Meet the Quinaults - named after a Pacific Northwest indigenous tribe, this variety is known for their extra sweetness, soft texture and homegrown goodness. 🌱 Right now, they are the one and only occupants in our edible heirloom garden so far but they are already producing flowers and fruit and attracting the bees 🐝. Upon their midcentury debut, I love that C.
