For just $38.00 This box has several appealing characteristics such as the dark olive green color, quality workmanship and precision in construction, the hand-painted a tropical scene with gold outlining, and the thin brass chain (photo 5) used to keep the lid open. This box is heavy and weighs in at 12.5 ounces. The box sides are ¼ inch thick. The olive-green acrylic is actually layered with a clear and thin outer finish on a dark green interior that enhances the appearance of depth. The lid is securely fastened with brass hinges and is in a complete and accurate alignment. The box interior, including the lid, is lined with dark green flocking. The base is covered in lighter green flocking paper. There is no maker’s mark. The overall condition of the box is very good in that there are no cracks, chips, impact bruises or stains and almost no scratches. However, on the painted scene, lower left quadrant (photo 3) there is a very tiny translucent blob of something spilled onto the surface.
