A rant.

Stop giving people labels they haven’t chosen for themselves.

Bitching about or dragging people who are cis. People who are straight. Or thinking you’re above them for some reason because you’re LGBTQ+ is LITERALLY part of the problem. Tumblr AGGRESSIVELY feeds this mind set that all cis and/or all heterosexual people are ‘bad’ or should be outed. That’s literally turning part of the issue for the LGBTQ+ community back on people that may very well be or become allies. That may be working on discovering themselves within the LGBTQ+ spectrum.

Acceptance and support comes from joint efforts. Full. Stop.

Obviously. There are LGBTQ+ specific spaces that should be KEPT that way. There ARE bad and hurtful people who are straight or cis. There’s an issue with straight and cis people using queer terms despitnir not applying to THEM. But there are also harmful and toxic people within the LGBTQ+ community. So. Use your head. And don’t pigeon hole people based on what they are.

All right. Okay. So here’s the thing. I’ve been a Green Day fan since I was a teen. I’ve only been a part of our little Tumblr community here for a….uhhh…. couple months? Three months? I don’t know. It’s only been about a minute. Case and point is I’ve been neck deep for a LONG time weather that fact was right on the surface or kind of sitting in the back of my mind it’s been there for pretty much ever. I’ve seen them live multiple times. I picked an instrument back up because of them. I can go on but I WILL start to ramble so HERE’S the thing. If a person says ‘I like/love Green Day’ that makes them a fan. If they say they’re a fan THAT’S WHAT THEY ARE! - you don’t have to have encyclopedic knowledge of the band. - you don’t have to know EVERY song. - it doesn’t matter if you haven’t been to a show. - it doesn’t matter if you don’t have merch - It is COMPLETELY OKAY to not like albums or songs - it doesn’t matter if Kerplunk brought you in or if you’re BRAND spanking new and God’s Favorite Band brought you falling into the bandoms lap. WELCOME! Come on in. Enjoy yourself. Scream a lot or don’t. Meet people, FIGHT THEM. You’re a part of the community now. Just don’t be a dick, yeah?

I posted this to my Twitter but I feel like it’s something important to put here too.

Fandom preaches acceptance. I think that is a widely important concept but people need to realize a few things.

1) you will NEVER get along with EVERYONE.

2) you SHOULDN’T get along with EVERYONE.

3) acceptance is based off of courtesy. Respect developes from that.

Personally I don’t qualify treating people kindly as respect. It’s courtesy. There’s a difference. Respect is earned, not just freely given but COURTESEY should always be extended.

You do NOT have to extend courtesy, respect, or acceptance to people who are genuinely poisonous. Would you eat something that you knew would make you sick just because you didn’t want it ‘left out’? FUCK NO. It is okay to weed genuine ROT from your communities and fandoms.

Is it always comfortable to weed out poisonous people or groups? No. But you SHOULD. If a group can’t show courtesy, earn respect, and help the community they supposedly want to be a part of be BETTER, THEY FUCK OFF. The end. Person is constantly shit? BYE. Group is constantly shit? BYE!

Fandom. Does. Not. Mean. ACCEPTANCE OF ALL! Be selective for the safety of yourself and your community. Weed out the poison. Don’t accept just because of common interest. THE END!

Good afternoon, everyone! I know my somewhat daily posts are usually fairly light hearted but honestly the current political climate and things going on along the borders of my own country are making me ill.  Putting people in cages and separating families from one another is NOT some form of protection. There is absolutely nothing okay with doing things like this to innocent people. Whoever they are. This bullshit stems from a severe lack of morality, empathy and the very things that make us people. It has been MASKED by politics. It’s disgusting. It is wrong and it is our job to be loud about it. Don’t let anyone try to stop you by telling you you’re too young. You don’t know enough. It doesn’t affect you directly. It doesn’t matter. Get mad and fucking stay there.

I made a post on Twitter touching on sexism within fandoms and the fact it should be crushed. I have had SO many needle dick fucks crawling out of the woodwork trying to invalidate the fact that I and fellow females within fandom have been snubbed to our faces for having the wrong set of genitals because we ‘don’t have numbers or statistics’. Tiny bitch. You ARE the problem I speak of.

Bleh. Okay. Call this a rant or whatever. Call me shallow. Call me two faced. Whatever. So. When it comes to cosplay Im genuinely all about everyone of all skill levels, body types, etc doing whatever they like! I love the fact that I'm a part of a community where people can learn from each country other and enjoy dressing up and being ridiculous nerds together. Cosplay had brought me a lot of my chosen family and I love it. But I still go quietly insane over certain things. I've picked two today because this is going to be long enough as is. These mentions are PETTY. I'll give you that. But. I do it because I want all you cosplay babes to look their best. Not to be hurtful. FIRST: BLATANTLY incorrect wig color. I mean. Seriously. If you're going to go to the trouble of buying and styling a wig at least try to get CLOSE to the characters hair color. I'm not saying meticulously compare swatches and get it down to the EXACT color code (unless you want to put that much effort out) but if you have a character that has light blue hair and you buy a navy wig then labor over it you're kind of kicking yourself in the ass. Talk to other cosplayers about where they get their wigs and REALLY use your resources. Second: Unfinished seams. This comes from the fact that I took classes on seeing and all that jazz. I'm an offender myself and I mentally kick myself the whole time I'm in a costume if I haven't finished an edge. But if I can see your fabric fraying or a raw edge sticking off your costume it hurts me. Again going back to the point that if you're going to toil over something go that extra little step! I'm lucky to have a serger which makes my life SO much easier. If you don't know how to sew and are gluing things together fold those raw edges over and then glue them down. It's easy and your costume will look better. Okay. I'm done for now.

APPARENTLY I have to cover this

I can't believe I have to make a post about this again but here it goes.

Ladies and gentlemen. It has come to my attention that there is someone if not multiple someones out there in internet land using my characters and textile work without my permission and taking credit. This is disheartening to say the least. I share my works openly and I don't mind if other people share them too (kind of the point) but PLEASE credit me when you show my work to others. Do not repost on any website claiming it as your own. It's kind of offensive to have someone swoop in after you've put so much hard work into something and then just say "Oh! Yeah. I totally made this." I think anyone who does any kind of art work understands this.

Following that line of thought. If ANY of you find my artwork, textile works, characters, etc. somewhere on a different site or anywhere and I am unaccredited or it has been posted under an unfamiliar Screen Name (IE not StraylightRevelation, Straylight Studio, or one of my character tags) PLEASE ALERT ME! Don't attack whoever posted it or is taking credit. I would rather try and deal with these types of things one on one first than automatically sending the mob after some stranger.

On a more personal but similar note. Luka Jack the jackalope and Straylight Border Collie are my PRIVATE CREATIVE PROPERTY. They are MY characters and MY original concepts. They are not to be copied in any way shape or form or used in anything without my permission or crediting me FIRST.

You may NOT commission anyone to make a costume or character that EXACTLY resembles them. If you want a jackalope GO FOR IT! You want a border collie character? Have at! Just make sure that their not my EXACT CHARACTER. If you want a character with the same color scheme GO FOR IT! I don't own the rights to the color pallet or the species but direct copying is NOT OKAY. It's not flattery. It's theft. And technically speaking since I have HARD COPY EVIDENCE of the fact I OWN these characters? I CAN press charges if I see fit.

I don't like doing this but Im sick of it and I'm crushing this out before it becomes a more serious problem.
