After months of being bedridden in the hospital, Neji was grateful to have returned home. Just weeks prior he had had to be carried home like some sort of soft lord, but he was home nonetheless. Now he turned his face up towards the sun, eyes closed, basking in its warmth for a few, long moments.
Neji had already begun some physical therapy (overseen by medical-nin) and then begun training again with Lee. None of whom allowed him to push himself farther than his kitten-weak muscles and paper-soft bones could withstand.
But he was recovering. He knew that just from the growing mastery he felt over his chakra. It was like tending to a tiny flame, day by day, growing stronger. Neji was still thinner than anything and the warmth of the morning soaked deep into his aches. It was difficult to be angry at his sluggish progress when he felt so deeply grateful to be alive; he was merely impatient because he had plans.
His pale eyes opened at the sound of familiar footsteps and the faintest of smiles appeared on his face. Practically a grin for his usual inexpressiveness.
"Ohayou, Lee," he greeted, no louder than necessary.
