Kendra: And so ends chapter one of Beautiful Friends! I had a lot of fun co-writing this, and will continue to do so as long as Raiettei will have me! Jessica: This... has been a long time coming, haha~ When I first wrote Beautiful Friends, I was at a very low point in my life. My mom had just passed away and this was kind of... my way of processing my grief? It was a good outlet at the time. However, shortly thereafter, my dad's status began declining rapidly and I was forced to become his fulltime carer. This, coupled with MY rapidly declining mental health, meant that I just couldn't continue the comic. There were several false starts on the way here, but like. My migration back to Tumblr was just the ticket, really. Did this chapter end the way I originally envisioned? Who can say~ I myself am quite satisfied with the path we're taking, and I hope you'll all stick with me as we press forward into new frontiers~
And I hope you'll cheer on Pippin as well!

Kendra: the eKinetic is a wonder of modern technology; completely modular, built around an inexpensive core of a basic phone, the number of modules and cases are nearly limitless, and the reason why Effkay Communications effectively holds a telecommunications monopoly. Modules range from simple storage and cameras and smartphone screen to highly specialized musical, audiovisual, or even scientific equipment. Each one is powered from a magic battery which can power the phone for weeks of use, though many people charge them overnight anyway.
Tattoos in Astana come in two main varieties; both stem from a process of dying the fur and the skin underneath such that it permanently alters the color of the hair follicles, making the tattoo visible without requiring shaving. But one goes farther, tapping into a person's innate magical ability, if they have any, allowing for special effects such as simple motions, altering colors, or luminescence, as well as the ability to 'turn them off'.

Kendra: Stream has minor sound based powers, which is giving her a bit of synesthesia and the ability 'see' sounds~ I expect she doesn't have it 'on' all the time, but it is right now. It's quite handy, when trying to locate things~
This isn't the first time Stream has found Pippin and Bard like this, and it won't be the last. This is one of the few times it isn't what she thinks it is however.
