Nyota Uhura was played by Nichelle Nichols, one of the most influential ladies in media history and an inspiration to both African Americans and Women everywhere. its a damn shame she doesn’t have more to do in TOS. Ye gods she must’ve been bored. In episodes where they leave Scottie in charge is actually against regs. Uhura is Third in Command when Spock and Kirk leave, not Scotty. And yeah, guilty as charged. Its a Galaxy Quest reference.

Pavel Chekov, portrayed by Walter Koenig, was brought on to appeal younger audiences, and was even a response to the TV Band “The Monkees”. He tends to run into all sorts of trouble, because he’s really really good at screaming his head off. And when he’s not screaming, he’s being the victim to Something in exchange. And yes. I made him Dab.

DeForest Kelley, the actor for Dr. McCoy from Star Trek the Original Series, had a portfolio of acting behind him. Mostly as the Black Hat / Bad Guy in Westerns. It was referenced in one of the Star Trek Films. Could you imagine a possible episode where McCoy had an evil duplicate instead of Kirk? Its been a long time since I did a “strekker” comic

Meet my favorite Star Trek Characters! Doctor Leonard McCoy, who is a Chief Medical Officer. Inspite of how that sounds, its not a military rank. He was never trained by the Federation. A moody medical man who has to go out and pronounce people dead (Something the actor hated), does generally have a sweet side under all that sour, inspite of the fact that the writers are very insistent of showing off his short-tempered speciest attitude towards the closest Vulcan on the ship. We know, McCoy does actually like Spock, but its the beginning of many writer problem cases with Star Trek. And now, Lieutenant Commander Nyota Uhura, the linguistics and communications officer, who is SUPPOSED TO BE THIRD IN COMMAND (not scotty). I know, its hard to favor someone who didn’t do much on the show itself. Which is a damn shame, because her skills in languages and computers would’ve been great (Operator is one thing, but she was basically a Radioman too, a Pre-Information Technician; she could’ve done wonders with the Ship’s computer systems). And Languages would’ve been Great, especially since Scotty’s actor had helped develop Vulcan and Klingon. She could’ve had a world of influence on Star Trek, just as she was a world of influence outside of Star Trek. She was a bundle of wasted potential in-universe, and damn it, I don’t care if TOS is over 50 years dead, I will be Salty about it.

There’s no canon for this, I just think that alien humanoids should have more to them that’s both freaky and isn’t just a pair of pointy ears. Hell, I’m not even sure if we see the green blood of the Vulcans in TOS. And yes, that’s a Darkest Dungeon reference. Hm... Darkest Dungeon, but with Star Trek overhaul mods...

To those of a more critical or hostile nature, we are “THE GOOGOLGALIENS FROM THE THIRD PLANET”.

Lot of this comes from the fact that we keep having alien species named after the planet. I get that The Original Series was a dime-store kind of show, and they had to work with what they got, but seriously.

James Doohan, the actor for Scotty, had worked on the languages for Vulcan and Klingon.

Imagine if Scotty knew those languages in TOS. The kind of conversations he could have with Spock, and completely lose everyone (save maybe Uhura).
