> Ash detangled herself from 'Eli' when she heard Bro showing up and dragged herself downstairs. Yeah she wanted to see him but this was going to be emotionally exhausting. > She stopped in the foyer and tried to neaten her now silver hair. "Hey."
Breakout - Part 6
The pair were stopped by a cell door, the flashlight in Bro’s hand made the shadows deeper but at least provided some guidance. There was no sign of Dave yet, or anyone down here really. Just streaks of old blood someone had tried and failed to scrub off the floor here and there.
“Yo,” Bro muttered, looking up at some of the higher rows of cells. “I don’t mean to rush or break out the technical terms but uh, how’s the woobly wibbly part going there?” He couldn’t see what Karkat could, and didn’t know what trail Karkat seemed to be following.
Karkat pointed at the door blocking their way. “He’s up there. Think these will take some rough slashing, or should we pick the lock?” Karkat wasn’t really skilled in either of these options, but Bro at least was in one of them.
Karkat hadn’t been enjoying any of this mission, but his gut gave that extra little twist as he realized that Dave was right over there. He was going to see Dave after a year, and no matter what crazy bullshit was going down, there was still a lot of heavy stuff between him and Dave.
Bro, completely unaware of Karkat’s inner turmoil, drew his sword again. “Yeah, I got your lockpick right here.”
The cell doors didn’t hold up any better than the elevator did and a large triangle fell out of the cell walls and crashed in to the floor.
Breakout - Part 5
Bro began to feel the tips of his ears warm up as his body and blood temperature began to rise just a little bit. He followed along behind Karkat, trusting the Knight of Blood to guide them, but he couldn’t stop the twitching of his fingers. Barring Vriska being around, the only thing that could make his blood begin heating up was Ash’s influence expanding around them. They really needed to hurry before she killed them all.
Breakout - Part 3
“I’m sorry.” Bro murmered to his sister. He shouldn’t have doubled back, and every instinct told him to throw Ash away like the biohazard she currently was, but he held on to her anyway. With Karkat there, and Ash trying to restrain herself again, Bro was at least not in quite as much danger of being boiled alive. “This is all my fault.”
Breakout - Part 2
Bro tried to stay casual and ‘hmm’d’ to himself. “A figure in red, do you think it’s Deadpool? I mean I know how unlikely it is, but a man can dream right?” He joked casually as he stroked his scruffy chin. He studied the figure that was almost certainly his sister as she prowled back towards the main center of the compound.
Bro jabbed a thumb at that unnatural glow. “Want to do the shonen thing where we split up and each take on individually somebody suited to our powers?” He knew better than a lot of people what a bad idea it was to get near Ash when things went Wrong with her. Karkat though, was a Blood Aspect User too. If anyone could keep themselves from being ripped apart by her powers, it was him.
Karkat didn’t look happy about it in the least, digging small bloodstones out of his carrying pouches on his urban combat uniform. “I don’t know what a shounen is, but sure, aspect similarities makes fights easier.” He grouched, turning and hurrying over towards a door with stairs that lead down to the figure he hadn’t identified yet, trusting Bro to track Dave down.
