It took Ash a few hours to get back from her impromptu trip through the black decrepit industrial town where they had set up their new oncoming fort. She was still angry though, and frustrated so she didn't bother trying to sleep and she didn't go to Dave's room. Ash went straight back to work, sitting on a rafter in the factory adjacent to the office building. Part of the ceiling was opened to expose wiring as she worked on continuing to set up (what she currently spitefully thought of as) Dave's fortress. Her argument with Dave was the cherry on top of the building resentment she had. Epsilon, Prince, Karkat, Hal, Dirk. She was so angry and could only think about every time she was treated like she was irrational, hysterical, or just straight up incompetent. Hal's barely chained wild dog that needed to be muzzled before she hurt herself or everyone else. Who needed to just Calm Down because she was always over reacting. It probably tied in to why everyone wanted to lock her up, keep her isolated. Never let her be alone because her judgment wasn't trustworthy. Ash had to take a deep breath before she tore apart the wiring in her hands and ruined all of her work. She felt hot all over, luckily her hands were steady and reliable so she could continue the careful work of rewiring. She clipped off her work and hopped off the rafter to the floor, picking up her mobile where it was laying on a defunct machine. She sent Tommy a text and went back to work. Even though he was probably doing his hero thing or was sleeping or zipping around and wouldn't be able to answer for a long time ,just doing that made her feel a little better.
im too gay to live anymore just bury me
Jack- Ash woke up in the middle of Dave and Hal fighting. Dave was wielding a sword and Time powers, somehow without using an Aspect Sword, Hal kept mocking him and fending him off with his gun but even so was catching several cuts. The room just wasn’t big enough to effectively use a pistol in.
Her head hurt so much. In a way she hadn’t felt except when Hal was punishing her. She felt sick and the room seemed to be spinning. Her head felt...weird, and she felt raw all over. What had Hal done to her head...?
Tommy spent maybe ten solid minutes prepping food that morning, and another hour being increasingly impatient at the length of time it took to cook food. Normally Teddy would help because he was a goddamn saint, but he’d asked Teddy to look after Billy after last night’s nightmare.
In the time he had to piss away, Tommy dicked around on his phone and messaged a few people. In the time he spoke to Hal, he chewed a bloody sore into his cheek three damn times before he managed to get a word in with Ash. Afterwards the dick actually posted about how good her friends were, and he wasn’t sure if he was actually doing the right thing by playing nice.
Either way, he’d promised Ash he’d feed everything back home, which meant he needed to bring something for Dave. As he packed away most of the food he’d just made, he grabbed tortillas and wrapped up a selection of choices with both steak and chicken. He wasn’t sure if Dave had gotten any of the curry or chili he’d brought previous nights, but he assumed he didn’t mind a bit of spice if Ash said she’d give it to him. He toned it down just in case, and packed everyting up, then threw some sandwiches on the grill while he dug through the pantry for unopened bottle of juice to throw in.
Kitchen clean and hot sandwiches set on top in the bag, Tommy headed over to his friend’s apartment and set off towards the area Delta had directed him to.
The ice warning had been nice, and he’d worn shoes with good grip, but he still almost ate it a couple times before he slid to a stop and messaged the bot that he was there.
She killed him. She killed her dad- who against all odds has adopted and treated her like his own real daughter, instead of the fucked up needy alien that kept causing messes. Ash killed her dad. He wasn't dead yet but she could feel him rapidly sinking downward as Olivine and Meenah, the other Meenah, rushed away to find a stasis pod to try to save his life. The hallway went quiet except for her heavy breathing. Elsewhere in the building wendigos and humans still roamed, some wendigos were escaping out of the new hole Prince had made and Ash... Ash just sat there crying quietly and shaking a little. She took a few deep gulps and wiped tears and blood off of her face. She managed to summon a mental image of Max and his sneer, imagine what he'd say about her being so pathetic right now, and that at least helped motivate her a little. She remembered what had caused all of this, the monster beneath her feet. Ash was going to destroy it, but not alone. She needed- "Dave!" That galvanized her better than anything. "Dave hold on!" She hissed scrambling to her feet. They had been separated for too long, she needed to find him, Ash needed to help her moirail, and needed to be with him.
“I need my gear.” Ash explained. “We ain’t gonna make it on what we’ve got, and I need my heat sword to get through the door.”
Delta still didn’t like it, but he understood. He was quite heavy and Ash needed to move fast and light on her motorcycle.
“You’ll be safe, they aint interested in people without a pulse.”
It wasn’t himself he was worried about, but Ash had already argued him down so Delta couldn’t do much but give an annoyed buzz and look away.
Just before Ash took off though, they both paused. There was a crackle of a speaker, and the control panel that only by the grace of Delta’s interference had survived Ash, shone a bright blue as it came to life.
She flash stepped over there immediately and jammed her thumb down on the speak button. “hello?!” She called desperately in to the microphone. “Who’s there? Talk to me!” Ash hardly dared to hope that someone living would actually be on the other end, much less someone helpful, but there had to be, right? “Please!”
