'09: Cross My Heart, Hope To Die
Date: 29th of September, 2009
Location: Corpus Christi, Texas (port’s warehouse)
Hell’s Bells. That’s what she heard when Jimmy called her and said Garcia is dragging on the whole thing. It was supposed to be a clean deal.. the Colombians get the money, the Westies get the coke. It was Jimmy who went inside - as her late father’s street boss, Jimmy along with Steve, her father’s underboss, took upon him to learn the newly acquired boss the reigns of the job. Meeting the second in command of the narco boss Velasco wasn’t supposed to be young boss’ today’s lesson. Yet, it was precisely Lara who Garcia wanted to meet.
It was Mickey Cannon who followed Lara’s footsteps as she ran out of the black car through the both Colombians and Westies guard, not thinking twice. Whenever Colombians were dragging the deal.. someone got killed. It was the unspoken rule, the one she was determined to change. How, Lara didn’t know. But she knew they were running into a trap. It wasn’t just about meeting the young boss. There had to be more to it. Things were never so simple, not with the Colombians. “Mickey, just fuckin’ don’t do anything,” a hard Texan accent of hers came out as the duo stepped inside one of the port’s warehouses.
Her eyes immediately found the second in command. Tall, dark bearded, his arms heavily tattooed, Garcia was in his mid-thirties.. the perpetual smirk on his features, he locked his eyes with Lara’s. “Mis condolencias, guapa.” Saying it with a smile, Garcia chuckled as he exchanged glances with the rest of the Colombians. All she had to do was to stay calm.. all she could feel was her blood boiling under her skin. “I’ve been wanting to meet you for a very long time, Lara.” Coming closer to her to touch her cheek, it was that moment Lara realized they were outnumbered. Jimmy, Reese, Sean, Lucky, Chris.. even with now Mickey and Lara inside, it wasn’t enough. Swallowing hard, feeling her breathing got faster, the brunette beauty frowned. “Too bad the feeling isn’t mutual.”
“Ella muerde,” Garcia let out as his soldiers laughed.. exchanging glances with both Jimmy and Mickey, they all knew they would have to be patient with Garcia, just as they knew their lives were on stake. “Why are you so mad, guapa? We’re just having fun.. I heard you like that.” Another laugh from the Colombians.. Jimmy was still shaking his head, but who was the boss, Jimmy or Lara? As she was about to say something, door opened once again. “And who do we have here?” Moving his hand away from Lara’s cheek, Garcia smirked as he focused on the new person in the room.. Lara turned around only for her eyes to find someone she seriously didn't want here.. Striker Cannon.
