Finished the string trellis before the rain this week. Got lots of practice tying knots that I’ve wanted to retain. Adjustable grip hitch on top and bowline on the bottom. Now I never have to worry about making sure tension is right on each line!

So the string trellis did well until the line across the bottom broke and everything came untethered. That’s what I get for using biodegradable string against the ground. The peas and beans don’t care since they cling to the string, but the tomatoes needed a solid anchor.

I picked up a cheap set of sds bits from harbor freight and borrowed the hammer drill from work to put half inch holes through the chunks of diorite that I pulled out when digging rows to plant corn. Same knots as before (bowline and adjustable grip hitch) and the tomatoes are secure!
