Alden Sofa Explorative Process Model 4/21 Pictured above is a tensional rope, three seater sofa, concept model. A fair amount of detail is achieved as the model is rendered in a fourth scale. The design is driven by the previous success of #stringback. Where comfortable seating is achieved through ergonomic weaving. Starting big, this model takes great liberties in terms of unique details. Look closely at the two tiered arm rest and the dramatic splayed front legs. These features, if pursued would have underwent great ideation to validate this extreme ornamentation. Explorative Process Models 4/7 5/7 6/7 These three stylistic iterations are informed by "final explorative process drawing 7/7”. From hand drawing to traced vector “Universal Laser Systems” laser cutting machinery; cuts & etches the exact lines and curves of the original ideation. It is in the digital translation that hand drawn aesthetics are merged with the ability to enact structural corrections and visual symmetry. From these complex wooden profiles, tension strung cord will act as an ergonomic seat/back treatment. Explorative Process Drawing 6/7 Now available on #kickstarter, Link in the profile. As ideals of canning and wicker slowly fell aside, so did creative weaving take a dominate role in the overall designing of Stringback. Following five, this #illustration develops upon the interaction of tension wrapped cord with a complex wooden profile. As seen on the leftmost side, the cord is rendered rather static as either basic horizontal or vertical frame interaction. From that observation came the development of ergonomics. The profile would create a supportive seat and back curve to optimize comfort and provide for prolonged usage. Winter is coming, and so is #Stringback coming to @kickstarter Pending #Kickstarter approval, the Stringback campaign will launch tomorrow. In such, I am looking to handcraft ten additional Stringback Chairs. The campaign is the result of two semesters in the industrial design department of @prattinstitute. In the Spring, Stringback was designed and fully prototyped under the guidance of tenured professor and skilled artisan Kimberly Snyder. In "The Art of Crowdfunding" taught in the Fall, by Industrial Designer and successful Kickstarter veteran @ptragonetti (Peter Ragonetti,) I received effective guidance and confident support to deliver effectively honestly.
