I liked the part with the duck.
Stroszek is a bleak tragicomedy about an ex-convict, a prostitute, and an old man who travel from Berlin to Wisconsin in search of greener pastures. At least, on the face of it.
At times humorous through its absurdity, at other times touching. Most of the cast were not professional actors, which gives the movie an otherwise unattainable sense of grounding. Everything was stunningly shot, and though the plot meanders, it never suffers for it.
Stroszek is about the inanity of life itself. It’s about playing the hand you were dealt in a rigged game, and always walking away the loser. It’s about the grim realisation that the dancing chicken is all of us, and we can’t stop the dancing chicken.
Compelling and thought provoking. An unforgettable film.
