What do you get when you take a tireless photographer and give him a job driving Vancouver trolley buses for 41 years? A walking heritage database in the form of Angus McIntyre. He came to the city from Toronto in 1965 and although he retired in 2010, he has not stopped documenting the changing landscape.
Some of his between-run shoots were elaborate, such as this self-timer pic of his 1948 Brill spewing sparks at the old Chilco loop in 1974. Angus says that the Stuart Building, visible in the background, was illegally demolished a few years later at 4 a.m.
Richard C. DeArmond took the 2008 photo of Angus posing on Marine at Main before the final run of Translink’s last Flier bus.
