Arisu's aura of maturity, confidence and self-assurance in season3 was insane. He's seen and lived through too much so when faced with million of fire arrows he takes it in stride is like 'this is just a minor inconvenience, there is a definitely way out of this inferno."
Even when confronted with the Watchman, an immortal, he is winning that face-off because, unlike him, he does not fear death, not anymore, he only fears losing Usagi and their child - that's why he jumps into the whirlpool, to wrestle them out of Death's grasp, to live.
The Borderland really left a deep mark on him, after everything he's been through, he does not feel completely mortal himself, his wisdom seems almost otherworldly, far beyond his years, because he's survived way too many encounters with Death and lost too many people.
That aura, that part of him is reminiscent of Kyuma. He has no regrets and know what he's fighting for and what he wants to protect. Kyuma would have been proud.
All of that is really helped by Yamazaki Kento's portrayal of him. He doesn't overreact at all, as he is sometimes prone to, giving a subtle, almost understated and nuanced performance. Both the character and the actor has aged like fine wine.
And even though I liked Yamazaki before, especially in Kiss that Kills, this might be my favourite performance of his so far; moreover, I think I'm going to love his 30s era because in the past I found him handsome, but now I think he is hot.
