Zolah traversed the main room of the quarters she shared with Vector and Theron. "Would you stop and think?" The former spy growled as Zolah stepped around him. Theron had been bombarding her with the same argument for two hours, so she'd tuned him out long ago.
"Where did I put that stealth generator?" Zolah asked, simply to annoy Theron further. She thought he'd have figured out by now that nagging was a poor way to gain her support. The man was nothing if not stubborn.
Grabbing her shoulders, Theron gave Zolah a brief shake. "You are not a soldier." That line earned him an incredulous glare. She couldn't afford to care about the panic in his eyes, or the idea that he loved her enough display this irritation so openly. "Zolah, wait until Fynta gets back. She's better suited for this mission."
Zolah knocked Theron's hands away and turned her back. "This makes the most sense," she argued, smiling sweetly when Vector returned with the pocket generator she'd been searching for. "I've worked with SCORPIO before, and I'm relatively sure that she won't kill me."
"That's not comforting," Theron snorted, then threw his hands up and stomped towards Vector. "Can't you talk some sense into her?"
Sighing, the joiner shook his head. "Unfortunately, our wife is much like Fynta when this mood strikes." Both men turned with judgment in their eyes. Zolah tried to ignore that, too, and almost succeeded.
With a glare that promised retribution, Zolah faced her men. "That, was a low blow, Vector." He shrugged, arms folded over his chest in a way that sucked any sincerity out of the action. Growling in frustration, Zolah pointed at Theron. "Fynta will not return for another three days. By then, our window of opportunity will be closed. This is an infiltration op, and I'm an Imperial Cipher agent." He started to argue, but Zolah cut him off. "If you're so worried about it, come along. Bring Lana for all I care, Senya too."
"Fine," Theron snarled as he stomped over to snag his datapad from the end of the sofa. He stopped beside Zolah on his way to the door. "Just remember, you asked for this." Without another word, he palmed the door open and vanished into the chaos of the command room.
