Made it back to Tulsa! @tulsaartistfellowship Was happy to find the Bomb Magazine Summer issue @bombmag I contributed to in my mailbox! Enjoyed my time in Florida! I didn't snap many pictures or selfies. Week 1 I reconnected with family and some friends. Check out my room in Stuckey that was filled with memorabilia I hadn't seen in a long time. My aunt/mom keeps a lot. My grandmother sewing machine brought back so many memories. I was moved. We had a father's day dinner for my uncle, who has been a second dad. I was also happy to attend the family reunion on my father's side. I did sing a song, but didn't take pics. Catch my side profile photo bombing some pics I stole from my cousin Audrey's Facebook page. Week 2 my truck started giving me trouble. The week was spent dealing with that. In the end, I'm happy I took the trip. Hadn't been home since March 2020. I didn't get to see everyone. Glad to hear about this today. My family in Stuckey was directly affected by this. Posting an article from the 90s that featured my great uncle, my maternal grandmother's brother Fred Maxwell, who was a pastor and civil rights activist, speaking about the tragedy. Tallahassee, Fla – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis issued a full pardon of the members of the Groveland Four: Ernest Thomas, Samuel Shepherd, Walter Irvin and Charles Greenlee. The pardon was unanimously approved by the Executive Clemency Board. Please see the statement below from Governor DeSantis regarding the pardon: “For seventy years, these four men have had their history wrongly written for crimes they did not commit. As I have said before, while that is a long time to wait, it is never too late to do the right thing. I believe the rule of law is society’s sacred bond. When it is trampled, we all suffer. For the Groveland Four, the truth was buried. The Perpetrators celebrated. But justice has cried out from that day until this.
