STUDENT EIGHTEEN: INTERVIEW SESSION

Ms. Flowberry: Kiosk? Ikaw ba ‘yan?!
Student H: Yes I? Maganda ba ako? Pure japanese na ako. Chares!
Ms. Flowberry: Huy hindi, baliw, ang ganda ng glow up mo. May fashion sense ka na rin.
Student H: Grabe naman ma’am, wala lang kasi akong pera before. Pero ngayon meron na, I can finally buy things that I want na.
Ms. Flowberry: Wow ha, o’sige na, umupo kana diyan. Magsimula na tayo para matapos ka na rin ng maaga.
Student H: Go lang ma’am.
Ms. Flowberry: Bago pala muna tayo magsimula, may mga tanong ka ba?
Student H: I mean.. if magtatanong po ako wala rin naman po kayong masasagot eh. I just think it's a waste of breath opening and closing my mouth with nothing in return.
Ms. Flowberry: Malay mo may masagot ako kapag—
Student H: Ma’am, I’m gonna be really honest with you right now. Pang-eighteenth ako, sina Yvonne nalang natira don. Si Giovanni hindi mapakali kasi hanggang ngayon si Riley hindi pa raw gising.
My BEST FRIENDS for short. Lahat sila nauna sa akin, nakita ko si Riley tsaka si Aurelia halos kaladkarin na kasi ayaw nilang makinig sa inyo. They asked ONE fucking question to you people ta’s wala kayong masagot.

I was almost late from work and boom, hinarangan ako. Nakakatuwa ba ‘yun? Hindi! So simulan niyo na yung itatanong niyo sa’kin kasi baka gumawa na rin ako ng skandalo dito.
(Student H then went quiet as Ms. Flowberry stopped from what she was doing. The camera captured her hands trembling before brushing everything off)
Ms. Flowberry: A-ah.. s-sige.
(Ms. Flowberry’s voice was shaking as she tries to form a sentence)
Ms. Flowberry: A-anyways, bago tayo magsimula I just wanna tell you that.. u-uhm.. recorded itong session natin. Whether you like it or not..
(Student H nodded quite attentively before Ms. Flowberry starts)
Ms. Flowberry: M-may I know your name and occupation for the—
Student H: Kiosk Alvarino-Dela Cruz, you can call me Kio for short. I’m a Shōsetsuka or a novelist. I write fictional books, I sell them. That's how the life of a writer works.
Ms. Flowberry: T-tama, next.. may mga allergies ka ba?..
Student H: Why do you wanna know?
Ms. Flowberry: ..Dahil, for future research namin ito sa inyo..
Student H: Huh, I’m surprised you’re still trying your best to keep yourself—
Ms. Flowberry: Anak..? I’m TRYING. Okay..? So please, answer me smoothly para matapos na ito. Okayyyy..?
Student H: ..I have Allergic Rhinitis.
Ms. Flowberry: Okay, thank you, what about symptoms?
Student H: May sipon ako ngayon, naiirita na nga ako sa lamig eh.
Ms. Flowberry: Alright, what about phobias? Meron ka bang ganon?
Student H: I mean, I was once scared of being alone. Pero I don't think I have any fears eh.
Ms. Flowberry: Okay, THANK YOU for that Mr. Dela Cruz. Lastly, before you go on your way, may tanong ako.
Student H: Go lang ma’am, wala naman rin akong magagawa eh.
Ms. Flowberry: If there’s one thing in the world you wanted to change, what would that be and why?
Student H: A hypothetical one. Let’s see..
(Student H thinks silently while Ms. Flowberry can be seen tapping on her clipboard. It took 1 minute before Student H speaks again)
Student H: Well, as much as I’m living happily in Japan, engaged and all.. I’d still hope na magbago rin yung government dito sa pilipinas. That's the only thing I’d hope to change.
Ms. Flowberry: Understandable, kahit nasa ibang bansa tayo, your heart and soul is still a Filipino anyway.
Student H: I.. oo. G-ganon na nga.
Ms. Flowberry: Alrightt, thank you Kiosk for participating in our session. Maya-maya you’ll be escorted back to your room.
(Student H nodded before Ms. Flowberry drops her clipboard on the desk as she stood up and walked towards Student H, an unidentified object that appears to be special for Ms. Flowberry)
Ms. Flowberry: Sa inyong lima ‘yan. A-.. Apology ko na ‘yan sa inyo..
Student H: Thank you po.
Ms. Flowberry: Ay, end ko na rin pala recording natin. Para sa next person na ito eh. (Chuckles)
