Castries, Saint Lucia, Tuesday 17 th November 2017. The Electoral Committee for the elections of the National Students’ Council is delighted to announce the opening of nominations for positions on the National Executive. The nomination period will be opened for a two-week period where students eligible to vie for the various spots are encouraged to submit nominations. Upon review of nominations by the Electoral Board, the successful candidates will be presented to the student body and public ahead of November’s General Conference of Students Councils. The Assembly, which marks the beginning of a new students council year is the highest decision- making body of the organization and meets annually to discuss the way forward for the council and elect a new executive for the following year. This year’s event is expected to engage 100- 150 student leaders from across the island and will be held on the 17 th of November which is celebrated internationally as the “International Day of the Student”. The event is organized as a grand celebration of the NSC’s achievements and will bring youth icons together to provide inspiration for the student leaders present. We look forward to a keenly contested election and urge students to view the occasion as an opportunity to develop leadership skills and work closely with the National Youth Council.

Story time
So I'm on the student council in my school, we're a brand new school (were up to TY which is the 4th out of six years in secondary school) and so management are quite open to new things. Anyhow we recently requested info on the anti-bullying process in our school. Yesterday we were given a meeting with our vice principal where she explained restorative practice. Basically that means when bullying happens they try to figure out what happened and restore relationships between the people affected at least to the point where those people are civil to each other. They don't give sanctions unless the case is very serious when it comes to this. Our vice principal said to us during that meeting that the school want people to be able to learn about this and thought this start using this themselves to fix issues in a healthy way for relationships. Basically they want people to learn how to have basic healthy relationships platonically and romantically and I find that super cool because what school would do that
Messages from the Students Council
Afshanaaz Shaikh (Head Girl)
Each one of us is called to develop our God-given talent and make the most of our lives. This requires passion, a vital component for the ambition that drives us to achieve our goals. It helps us as leaders love what we do and keeps us motivated. Without passion, the path we take soon becomes stagnant and dull.
My vision as an effective Head-Girl at Rose Manor would be to foresee, enlighten and guide the step of each and every student and recreate a spirit of passion in everyone. My team and I promise to adhere to the rules set by the school. We shall endeavor to spread the light of happiness to our fellow students and provide support towards bringing our school to the pinnacle of success.
Sameer Rander (Head Boy)
To quote Albert Gyorgyi, “Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought”.
As Head-Boy at Rose Manor, I shall with the help of my team endeavor to help every student discover their potential. Though our methods may not be something different from what has been done before and the result not original, our contribution will be filled with effort, creativity and integrity.
I hereby promise to help instill in every student qualities championed by the school through dedication, hard work and sincerity, thus putting the school on the path of future progress.
Ritik Kapuria (Asst. Sports Boy)
A famous quote by Michael Jordan goes “I can accept failure. Everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.”
A sport is not just about players but all about teamwork. Winning through team effort and aiming for the skies no matter what be the odds ahead of us.
Just as the galaxy comprises of many components, a sport has its many players. This brings me to thank our Leapstart team who consistently work on our physical fitness and wellbeing. And also a big ‘Thank you’ to our administrator Mrs. Mary Rose Nazareth and the heads of our school who have worked towards providing the Balkan-Ji-Bari grounds for our fun filled activities through various sports
