Spellbound Stitches Volume 5 – The Bookmark Book Today I am sharing bookmarks from our History Chapter! This is a big deal - I pulled the Queen of Community herself out of her comfort zone. Steotch isn’t pulling any punches with this design of a mural called Tragic Prelude, depicting American abolitionist John Brown, whose commitment to the freedom and equality of all people ushered in the struggle for emancipation that carried into the Civil War. For fans of #Steotchalong, Em designed this pattern with her exceptional eye for detail and creative stitches, so expect that nostalgic comfort that comes with working on one of her designs. @ansitru – Astrid also packs a lot of meaning into her design, Don’t Obey in Advance. Each floral element has meaning. In Astrid’s words:
Floriography:
- Cnicus Benedictus: bravery, durability, strength
- Gladiolus: ready armed, strength, moral integrity
- Lavender: often represents the fight for equality and the importance of unity among women and marginalized groups
- Purple aquilegia: strength, resolved to win
- Sunflower: optimism and resilience
