Ripples Of Time Sand Clock - By Studio Ayaskan 

We’re so often obsessed with time, always in some kind of a hurry, always late. Time has become our master and we still don’t understand it at all. In the space-time continuum, time’s the fourth dimension. All the three points of time, the past, the present, and the future, are just our fiction and a part of a single continuum. A plastic presentation of how time (re)shapes the elements is brought to you by Studio Ayaskan, in the form of the Ripples Of Time Sand Clock.

The Sand Clock, Studio Ayaskan

Studio Ayaskan’s sand clock rakes across a bed of sand, leaving ripples in the sand to represent each hour of the day. The purpose isn’t so much about accuracy, but an inventive reflection of the ephemeral nature of time passing similar to another sand-based timepiece, the hourglass.

London-based designer duo Studio Ayaskan has recently unveiled a unique, beautiful Sand Clock. Inspired by Zen gardens and its carefully-patterned sand surfaces, the Studio Ayaskan Sand Clock is a circular plate that tells time with a rotating arm that rakes over sand, leaving a beautiful pattern during the A.M. hours and flattening it during the P.M. hours.

London based Studio Ayaskan were inspired by the art of origami for ‘Growth’ a pot design that grows alongside your plant, accommodating more soil, water and expanding roots as it unfolds.

GROWTH

To counter the undesirable process of moving your plant during maturity, London based designers Studio Ayaskan created a line of shape-shifting origami. GROWTH uses a carefully-calculated pattern in order to mimic what nature has mastered. Now, the pot moves with the plant, so we’re not only watching the organism transform, but the inantimate object, too.
