With all that occurred during the prolonged NOVA Open weekend, there wasn’t a lot of time to unpack all that we saw at the studio preview - so here’s a belated rundown.
It hadn’t exactly been a bold prediction to infer that all of the classic Space Marine heroes would eventually be Primarisized, and since the first few examples are already available that trajectory isn’t likely to change - being as we’re only really waiting to see the Salamanders and Imperial Fists characters at this point.
Shrike’s reveal did seem to polarize the room. There’s a lot to like about individual details on this kit, but I’ve never been crazy about the Phobos aesthetic or anything having to do with Primaris jump infantry; but the low-profile lightning claws and individually cased grenades (for stealth, so they don’t clank together!) are a premium look.
The emo hair’s a bit of a statement but I think there’s a level of self-awareness, there, regarding exactly who and what the Raven Guard are - nobody should have been expecting lantern jaws and buzz cuts from the chapter based around Gothic romance poetry, and if you were then maybe Imperial Fists are more your speed. If you find it that offensive, chances are you’ll be able to build Shrike with his beakie helmet on, no problem.
