I made a career change again but reverted back to the job I loved the most. I pulled out the union card I’ve been holding onto and changed my title from being a Mortgage Release Researcher to a Motion Pictures Studio Mechanic! East Coast Lighting Workshop June 17-18, 2017 Local 52 IATSE’s stage complex located at 19-02 Steinway Street, Astoria, NY 11105.
This 2-day event is a combined effort by Locals 600 & 52 (Cinematographers Guild and Studio Mechanics) featuring master cinematographers, Stuart Dryburgh, ASC, NZCS, Fred Elmes, ASC, Rodrigo Prieto, ASC, AMC, and Mandy Walker, ASC, ACS demonstrating the art and craft of lighting.
In addition, there will be informative panels addressing the current revolution in lighting, shooting HDR, Drones, new technologies and practices for ACs and show floor demonstrations featuring the latest state-of-the-art advances in motion picture equipment and software from participating vendors.

After a week of designing and planning, our group blog is finally up at http://studiomechanics2015.wix.com ! Yayy! :D
We’ve still got some minor things to settle though, like the main display picture on the front page which is still the default theme picture. We’re planning to take a photo of our workspace once we’ve got everything set up and organised though, so stay tuned for that!
I’ve done up my personal icon as well, which is also now my profile picture ;D Anyways! Now that the blog is up, we’ll be able to post weekly updates! Story development, conceptualisation, and other pre-production processes will be the main meat of our content for the next semester. Oh and of course not forgetting meeting minutes and agendas and to-do lists!
Our final semester will be when we start actual production, given that our idea is green lit. So let’s hope we’ll make it until then, and yeah let’s just see how it goes.
