Ahh the joys of being an artist. As with all arts there is the unseen work. The things that must be done to allow an artist to continue to mark art. In my studio that runs from making tools, cleaning, and yes maintenance. Yesterday I had the time to replace the elements and relays in my large electric kiln. Without these piece of equipment in service the size and amount of work I am able to make would not be possible. It is dirty, sweaty, knuckle busting, finger ripping work, but necessary work. Now to run a test firing to prime the elements and see what changes will have to be made to the firing schedule. The firing schedule is important to know, for if I use the most recent schedule I know I would over fire the work which would ruin it. The new elements will be more efficient and not require as slow or long of a schedule to reach temperature. Just a little look into what makes the artwork work. #kiln #kilnrepair #video #studiosights #tools #arttools #art https://www.instagram.com/p/B0YdxWhAuI0/?igshid=4jivcsmnaqik
