study tips & essentials (quarantine edition)
1. before anything else, i make sure that i shower before i actually start studying. i'd like to make sure that i'm refreshed and my brain's been cooled. showering before studying helps my mind to reset itself and think that it just like showering before you actually go to school. it also helps to set your mood into being productive.
2. i'd like to make my study drinks, which are my coffee & water, oh god i love coffee. i also prepare some snacks in case i get hungry while studying. preparing these beforehand will actually prevent you from breaking your momentum once you've actually set your mind into studying. there's actually a tendency that you'll get distracted when you stand up to make your coffee or get some snacks. make sure to also have your water beside you!! this will greatly help your refresh your mind every now and then.
3. list down the things your planning to accomplish at that specific time. this will help you remind on what to focus to first. do not put a lot though, start with 2-3 tasks so you don't get overwhelmed. trust me, being organized will really be a great help.
4. prepare the things you'll be using and your study materials.
my planner (it's where i actually list the things i need to accomplish)
book stand (makes reading a lot easier)
review/study materials (i mostly rely on books & handouts given by my professors and my friends from other universities)
laptop & ipad ('cause sometimes i just read the ebook version of our books and i also utilized the ppts given by higher levels and professors.)
highlighters & pens duh
pen stand/capsule (there's this brand here in ph called "filed" and they sell a pen case that also acts as a pen stand, it's really convenient and handy to have)
noise-cancelling headphones (i use beats solo, idk if it's noise-cancelling but i can't hear well when i use that)
muji b5 loose leaf binder (this is what i use for taking notes)
rub-on painkiller balm (i use this for my neck since i always get neck pain when i study)
index cards (i create flashcards right after i study so i'll have a reviewer to use)
sticky notes and page flags
5. use pomodoro technique. this has been a known time management technique—25 minutes of studying and 5 minutes of break. watch pomodoro technique videos on yt.
6. listen to your study music playlist. unlike others, i don't use classical music for studying since i tend to get sleepy when i do listen to them. instead, i just search study playlist lofi on youtube or just use my own playlist.
7. after studying, reward yourself with a good sleep. we all deserve that.
gotta update this soon.
